Thinking about learning the drums, but not sure where to begin? In this video, we break down five of the best electric drum kits for beginners, so if you are looking for a compact and quiet kit that is packed with features to help you get playing straight away, you're in the right place.

Whether you're after the best electric drum set for small spaces or a fully featured digital drum set that feels closer to an acoustic kit, we’ve lined up options for every budget.

Laurie walks you through each kit’s feel, sound, and standout features from Bluetooth connectivity to mesh heads and ultra-quiet pedals, so you can pick the best electric drum kit for your space, skill level, and style. And of course, every kit here supports headphone practice, keeping things neighbour-friendly (or parent-friendly if you are looking at gifting it) while you get stuck into your first beats.

Let us know in the comments which kit you’re leaning towards, and if you’ve got questions about electronic drums, we’re always happy to help.

I’m lacking space but want a kit for my son is there any collapseable folding kits (maybe they arrange into a slimmer standing arrangement) that have headphone functions ?

Hardly for most beginners. Most beginners won't want to spend exorbitant amounts of money on their first kit. The Nitro Max is over $800AUD and that's with discounts and free delivery from Amazon, but Alesis have beginner kits as low as $350. I get so tired of seeing advice being given out to beginners of everything to spend more money than they really need to when many of them will not stick with it and probably resell their new toy within 6 months at a major loss.
How about instead testing out all the affordable ones and advising people which of them is worth their investment instead of encouraging people to go all in, especially in today's economy where someone might have to save money all year to afford something like this.

my biggest regret was getting the visiondrum instead of the vison drum pro for an extra £50 because the bass drum on the vison drum is so hard to use😭

I got the Tourtech TT22M from PMT (rip) for £450 and its amazing for the price. Proper mesh heads. Proper Mesh bass drum with tower and bass pedal. Sticks. Throne.

Plus you can add more pads to it. Got me back into playing after 5 years away.
