"Why are they looking for him?"

Well, when you hold a cop at gunpoint and steal his pistol, they tend to frown upon that kind of thing.

Hearing her say she’s seen it and then describes T2 is just tops.😂

Nice to see someone catch the irony of the picture. He was wondering what she was thinking about, and she was thinking about him.

I absolutely love this woman. She’s the only reactor that picked up on the smell. After the precinct shoot out, The Terminator is literally a robot wearing a corpse as a disguise.

A stone-cold classic that still holds up.

This is a masterclass in clean storytelling with a straightforward causality loop plot…so refreshing with how needlessly convoluted many sci-fi plots end up becoming these days.

The fact that Cameron wrote and directed this right out of gate (forget Piranha II) shows what a genius he is.

The visual of the metallic skeleton raising from the fire that scared you is the inspiration for the whole series. Director and Writer James Cameron speaks in interviews about how that specific image came to him in a dream and from that came the idea for the movie The Terminator.

Arnold at first didn't want the part of the Terminator, because he's a villian and only has ten lines of dialogue. His mentor Joe Weider said: "What is the movie called?.. Of course you're doing it, you are the STAR of the movie."

OJ Simpson was considered for the terminator, but james cameron didn't think he could be a killer

I like that her childhood trauma overrode the jankyness of the stop-motion Terminator, to give her the fear that the effect intended!

The skinny detective (played by Lance Henriksen) was Bishop in Aliens, Alien 3, and AvP. He was also in Near Dark and Dog Day Afternoon. Reese (Michael Beihn), was in Aliens, The Rock, Tombstone, and The Abyss.

In the novel, the black detective actually almost believes Reese’s story because Reese reminds him of soldiers from Vietnam. And There’s actually a deleted scene where Reese and Sarah stop by the detective before he dies and he tells Reese to keep Sarah alive at all costs and gives them his gun.

When I first rented Terminator to watch, I had no idea what it was about and had mixed the plot up with RoboCop and thought Arnold was some kind of super cop, boy was I shocked when The Terminator starts shooting people up

I don’t care what anyone else thinks, “Come with me if you want to live” is a way cooler line than “I’ll be back”

The Terminator machines are borderline sentient. Their chip is capable of learning and with enough interaction they can begin to understand emotion and even have some themselves. Theoretically they could become completely sentient but the main AI that runs the show, that is the real brain. The machines are technically just drones, but they are so advanced that their processor could wake up.

5:00 Kyle just had bad luck. Police were on patrol and saw Reese stealing a guy's pants, and naturally went after him.

"LISTEN...and understand! That Terminator is out there. It can't be bargained with. It can't be reasoned with! It doesn't feel pity, or remorse, or fear, and it absolutely will not stop! Ever! Until you are dead!"

One of my favourite lines in any movie!!

This is truly one of the greatest films to ever come from the 80’s and in the sci-fi genre as a whole. The sequel is even better

I absolutely love how your childhood memories of T2 and the arcade ABSOLUTELY set you up for the best experience with the first movie. Perfect reaction, probably the best I've seen! 🙌

The name of the nightclub, Tech Noir, is also the name of the specific genre this movie is part of. It literally means, as you can probably figure out for yourself, black technology or dark technology, and it's a play on the film noir genre.

You mentioned that the police reacted in a "normal way"

in the novelization of the movie, the police Lt Traxler (who was a Vietnam war veteren) could spot the signs of battle PTSD on Reese; But he could also see that Reese was not old enough to have been in the war. He believed him, too. That's why he told his friend to be quiet.

There's also a deleted scene that shows as much.

Fun fact, they also used Reese's future look on the cover of the NES Metal Gear
