The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show premiered on October 15, 2025. Since receiving backlash for their exclusionary practices, the brand has committed to being more inclusive by featuring plus-size, trans, and different races in their shows.

However, Victoria's Secret is now facing criticism for damaging its brand by no longer selling a "fantasy." The audience prefers the show to feature its usual tall, slim, and often white models rather than trying to appeal to a broader audience.

In today's video, we are exploring the rise, fall and possible comeback of Victoria's Secret. When a company only embraces diversity after being called out for rejecting it… can that ever feel authentic?

Victoria’s Secret didn’t fall because people suddenly embraced true body positivity. It fell because cultural beauty standards shifted—curvier bodies like Kim Kardashian’s became more popular than the lean runway-style models like Candice Swanepoel. The brand lost relevance, not because people genuinely celebrated “real bodies.” Now that preferences swing back toward toned, slim models, the Angels are popular again because they fit the current ideal.

The actual downfall with victoria secret is when they GLAMORISED the anorexia bodies. Models were losing hair and their periods it was so bad that they had to be forced to eat pizza before the show since they were so skinny. Adrianna lima would fast 12 HOURS before the show, no food or water that was how bad it was. I think rosie huntignton said she would cry in the bathroom she felt so pressured.

Especially when it came to saying Angel Resse and Quenline Blackwell's bodies are "attainable"! Like what! Then go get their body type! Since it's attainable and maintainable to you🙄😒. Angel is an athlete and Quenline is a literal MODEL!

I feel like victoria's secret went out of fashion because like anything the hype dies. And they were convincing people to spend $125 on mid quality mid looking undewear to get a small dog plush lol. A lot of their sales were because of their marketing, not because of their products. When the marketing hype dies, the products need to stand on their own without your brand. You see this in celebrity brands all the time.

Let's be honest, the modeling industry is vile. These supermodels/models are subjected to horrendous "working" environments. They are also part of the problem, because they promote an illusion of perfection, then cry wolf.

There were a number of factors that caused me to start pulling away and becoming less interested in VS. What stopped me from buying from them was the price of VS lingerie started getting more expensive but the quality of the lingerie started declining. I dont mind paying a bit more if the item is great quality, but it no longer had the same level of lasting.

I owned bras and underwear that were several years old that were still holding up strong, practically no fraying of lace, or loose stitching, still in incredible condition for its age. Then the newer stuff I'd purchased from VS wasn't lasting 6 months. I always wash all my good lingerie in a delicate wash bag, on a delicate cycle, and I don't tumble dry or hangout in the sun and even after all that gentle care, it wouldn't stop the newer stuff from literally falling apart, yet my several years old VS lingerie was in better condition and still going strong.

Also, at the sametime of the quality decline the fitting of the bras become wrong, horrible and very uncomfortable, for the larger cup sized bras. I'm a natural DD and bras that were once nice fitting, comfortable, made my boobs look great were now very uncomfortable and weren't giving nowhere near the same level as "sexy" like the older stuff. It was literally making my large boobs look cone shaped, pointy, and my nips were pointing in an outwards direction, literally pulling my boobs apart causing a large gap between the two. My old VS bras, they would give a really nice full, round, nice cleavage, great appearance, but now with the new bras I looked like I had large cones for boobs that were pointing my nips more towards my arms 😭😭😭
