I generally don't care that much about powerscaling, but when the story revolves around characters who are literally defined by their monstrous strength you have to have a MINIMUM of consistency for the story to make sense

I hate not knowing how strong the main cast is, every fight feels completely random

Invincible power scaling implies Earth is the most powerful planet since Viltrum

I feel like eve’s powers are even more confusing than mark’s tbh. Like she can apparently create literally anything but she chooses to chuck pink glass at people

Mark's special ability is the ability to make his muscle tissue and bone density 1000 times less when he is holding back

Plot based power scaling.

Your power is based upon whom you are engaged in a plot with.

it's like seeing superman struggle with a spiderman villain

Worst thing they did that one season was do a training montage and saying how strong he was and actually gave us ways to compare. Just made him getting hus ass kicked more frustrating.

Remember the scene where multipaul is beating rex to death?
Mark could literally just walk up to rex without throwing a single hit and no amount of multipauls in the way could change that.

They are trying to sell you on stakes and drama that don't exist. That's when powerscaling is a problem, and it happens A LOT in this show.

You know the consistency is terrible when even normies that dont give a f about powerscaling scratch their heads thinking "wait didnt he just beat conquest? Why is he getting beat up by this random lady with a trident?"

Powerscaling has been so memed that people forget it has actual narrative value, it's important for the readers to understand stakes, tension, and threats

Conquest is so strong that he chops through Invincible's spine and intestines, yet was unable to... perhaps... chop off Invincible's arms the same way when arm bones are weaker than the spine so it's not only easier but also he's able to regain his breath again?

A show needs to have internal consistency. When it doesn’t have internal consistency we as the audience get taken out of the story. Powerscaling may be a massive pain when too much focus is placed on it but ignoring it can be just as bad.

the contrast of giving Mark fucking FINALLY locking the fuck in at season 3 and doing a training montage only for him to IMMEDIATE get his shit pushed in by Dr. Sesmic and the kaiju only to be then handled by Reaniman who are lucky to survive two hits from a Viltrumiiite is.... just profoundly frustrating.

wont even get into the internal speedster problems that always haunt speedsters.

At least we now know the true PEAK of the scale: Freddy mercury

It just rages me, I'm constantly rolling my eyes, because there's no progress, you put time into watching these characters develop, but then the development disappears for the sake of a "challenge".

The issue is Robert kirkman himself doesn't care about power scaling and if the writer doesn't care about it then obviously there will be a power scaling problem

Friendly reminder that Nolan moved a whole freakin planet.
Even on a lower level, he moved an asteroid the size of Texas and he could also somehow escape the gravitational pull of a super massive black hole while carrying a whole space ship.

Yet he struggled to push about HALF of a spaceship into orbit, with assistance of characters that should, at the very least, be in the same category of strength as him.

Not to mention Thadeus, who is supposedly as strong if not stronger than Nolan struggling as well

It's not even like it would be difficult to justify Angstrom!

Like, he can make multiple portals at once: just have him create a 'force field' of portals all around himself, so Invincible literally cannot reach him.

Alternatively, make him a puzzle boss, with the idea being that he's gone around the multiverse collecting crazy gizmos and gadgets that he then uses to protect himself and keep Invincible busy. Think how in the original comics, Doctor Doom could pull damn near anything out of his cape and throw it at the Fantastic Four.

I just hate the fact that everyone is so inconsistent and terrible at fighting...
It's been proven again and again that most of the stronger guys of the cast can absolutly destroy anyone as long as they extent their fingers for a bit and poke...
But instead everyone just punches eachother 50 times then tosses eachother trough a building / rock / spaceship 5 times, then hugs / pushes eachother for 5 minutes and THEN extends their fingers and wins instantly...
I mean come on", the second lesson Omniman should have taught Mark after flying is:
"Hey Mark, you know how we are strong and like to punch things really hard? , that's a trap, instead of punching do this (extends fingers) this way you can cut trough anything and win in one blow...
Every fight just boils down to "invincible characters mash into eachother until the writer wants one to win then they win." for all intents and purposes there is no power scaling...
It's just "who gets to actualy do a lethal attack instead of endlessly punch, trow and push", and that person wins...
