My first drum kit consisted of cardboard boxes, and a hardshell suitcase as a substitute bass drum which I tapped on with my foot.  The practice pad is a drummer's best friend.  Even seasoned pros use them regularly in addition to practicing on a drum kit.  When you go to buy, it may be possible to purchase a second hand drum kit.  And yes, if any girls want to learn drums, they should absolutely go for it.

when i was younger i asked me mom to send me to drum lessons. the instructor didnt let me touch the drum kit and i gave up. fast forard with an adult mind and i realized technique is important. tossed the ego and im here now to learn from you. thanks for the video.,

Tim Alexander started by hitting the couch. i did this and also used car backseat and pillows. you need so little if you have heart.

I like that you explain why a practice ad is helpful. Lot of videos say beginners should practice on a pad but they don’t say why

thanks for the video, I got my practice pad today, I can't wait to try it out and build up the basic skills!

Great video. I play guitar and have always wanted to pick up drums. I can’t afford a kit right now or even have space for one but I want to start building some of the skills for when it’s eventually an option for me.

big thank you for the examples, i needed that! i guess you just have to be creative and if you have passion for drums it'll work out. if you don't, every minor inconvenience will be an obstacle

Day one with a pad and 2 sticks here. First tutorial. Thank you.

Love this! Show us your practice routine please 😊

I just might do this. It's a nice way to start the hobby without sinking a lot of money into it. Also, I see Modular Origami at the beginning of the video! Very cool.

When I used to play African drums (Djembe) the main issue was neighbors who complained. I padded the surface so I could practice.

Great little video. I’m beginner guitar player and was thinking about getting a practice pad as a way to start understanding rhythm better as I see a clear path on how it will improve my guitar playing. I like how you went from drum pad to electric drum pad as well as it’s something that I’ve thought would be useful in the future. I’m actually looking for a used drum pad on Facebook marketplace today. Rock on friend.

Very good advice, thank you

👏

Thank you!

Thanks for the video! 🫡 been eyeing that same e-drum kit. But for now will practice first on a drum pad.

You’re video is great! Thank you so much for taking the time to put this together.  I’ve been wanting to learn but was not sure if a practice pad alone would do the trick, but I’m convinced it will thanks to your video. You’re doing a great job!!
