That sign is amazing! Also wanted to say - I love how Mudlarks are so encouraging and supportive with one another. "Well done, mate," "Great find!," "That'll clean up well!" - always complimenting each other's finds. You Brits continue your reputation of politeness among we Americans, your cousins across the pond. Cheers from New Jersey!

Hi Si, The version of ‘19’ you remember was a spoof cover of the Paul Hardcastle single from 1985 it had a anti war message and talked about the average age of US soldier that died in the Vietnamese war.

There is a banner in front of the seat…”never despair”….a direct translation of the Latin saying “níl desperandum”

The song "19" by Paul Hardcastle came out when I was a senior in high school. The lyrics, combined with MTV video images, made a big impression on my 18 year old mind. I of course knew about the Vietnam War, but somehow this song made it more felt- that and the fact that I was then so close to the same age as those young men who had gone. However, I realize the 19 you are referring to is completely different!

You must have the patience of a Saint to have cut out all those letters! Looks fabulous ❤

It wonderful how much history you Mudlarks and detectorists uncover. The museums reap rewards of your labors and you teach us so much. Great “luck in the mucK” on this lark.

Simon, I've been watching you for years and your creativity never ceases to amaze me! I'm an artist myself but I would have never thought to put those eclectic finds together the way you do to end up with such a truly original one of a kind art piece! Bravo! 😉👍

I can’t believe cuffs found a coin at 1567 was it that’s incredible. I can’t even imagine. I can’t believe this stuff you guys are pulling up. Absolutely phenomenal the history. I feel so grateful that you are able to share this with the world. Steam punk was brilliant. I loved it. Have a little girl I think should be called Pearl or Mabel. Thank you. Si!! Cheers from Liz.
