Late in Gibson's career, I saw him pitch against the LA Dodgers. He pitched a shut out. St.Louis won by one run, Gibson hit that home run.

The movement on those pitches is absolutely filthy.  Transcendent ability.

Just imagine a pitcher with the accuracy of Greg Maddux and the power of Randy Johnson, Roger Clemens, and Sandy Kofax.  That was Bob Gibson.

read 1 time willie mays came to bat and started digging a toe hold, realized gibson was pitching and filled the toe hold in

He's on my top 5. Absolutely filthy.

Bob Gibson was way ahead of his time

Bob Gibson in an era when they actually called the high strike.  Dominant!!!!

Lowered the mound cause of him and still dominanted

Up until two outs in the 7th inning of game seven in 68 he was almost unhittable until three pitches in a row changed it all.
The Cards never appeared in post season again with him or Brock.😊

Top 3 pitchers of all time.  Nolan Ryan (7 no hitters and strikeout king), Steve Carlton (Lefty), and Bob Gibson (1.12 ERA in an ENTIRE season).   The best of the best

History will always wonder how that '68 game 7 turns out of Curt Flood, a Gold Glove center fielder, does not misjudge that fly ball.

7 straight complete game wins in World Series history.

I am 89 years old and the best pitchers I've EVER seen were Roger Clemons, Greg Maddux, Randy Johnson, Phil Neikro, Don Drysdale, Sandy Kofax, and Nolan Ryan.  With no disrespect to Nolan Ryan or Greg Maddux; Bob Gibson was the best I saw in a 5 year stretch where a pitcher literally dominated everyone.

1.12 ERA will never happen again

Thank you LORD for Mr Gibson. !!

That rising fast ball, completely unhittable

I’d like to see these hitters today try to do those cute little bat flips against Bob Gibson.  They’d be too scared, he was a fierce competitor.

hits  a  homer  in the  67 and  68 series ....amazing ........never  gets  old  watching  the  guys  i grew up watching .........

Thanks for posting the highlights of my favorite pitcher! There are also at least three broadcasting legends heard here: George Kell at 0:48, Ernie Harwell at 4:28 and Harry Caray (I think, as also mentioned by another poster) at 5:30.

Bob Gibson Good Slider
