24:10 "Trust the dealer" No, trust a verified and well rated dealer. (Still plenty of shady ones out there)

“..quite an illustrious career”

Gotta love Mike’s humility.

Don't forget the statutory rights are: for the first 6 mo - the dealer has to prove the fault did not exist at point of sale, the following 6 mo the buyer has to prove the fault existed at point of sale.  I don't know if that detail got lost in an edit - but it is quite a big difference to what was covered.

Ben has probably the best car channel content right now. And he is exactly what a car guy presenter should be. Congrats !

More videos with these two please!  Great chemistry, Mike has always been the worst passenger, but so many solid car buying tips shared.  Really enjoyed this one, nice one boys!

Educated and entertained 👍nice to see the two TV kings together

My father owned a garage in the 1950s-2000s used sales, recovery, and repairs. He told me never to waste money on cars. His garage was in a very wealthy area and some of the customers cars were incredible E types, Lotus, humbers, sunbeams when I was young then more latter day desirables. I have never bought a car from a dealer or an auction. Always bought privately, with good history and few owners. Never spent more than £6k. I try to keep them until they costing. I service them and my families car myself although stuff beyond my ability now. Have several cars well over 100k miles and a couple over 300k miles. In the 60s my dad was replacing engines in Austin 1100s minis escorts etc at 60k miles. I don’t buy diesels either or turbo. Generally have Japanese and immediately rust proof it every couple of years. My crv done 80k and I anticipate it rusting away before mechanical failure but will last 20-25 yrs am hoping. Motoring is so expensive people sacrifice servicing.  I will try to buy pre 2018 as they are eminently more repairable. Cant say how parts will be. My family have 9 cars between us all sub 2018, petrol non turbo and manual. Recipe for cheaper long lasting motoring. My one daughter has her 2002 Peugeot 206 1.1 petrol with 190k on owned from 5 yrs old and 38k and cost 1900quid. Q
18 yrs later Drives perfectly and immaculate body. Only ever had clutch and head gasket and servicing. However I would buy from Mike hes a thoroughly decent guy and the prop,e that diss him should look deeper. My only concern is accident not good.Always do a history check!
That little car will be a sound purchase. My other daughter had a 3 yr old yaris with the 1.0 engine ex motability. Bought at 19k now at 150k at 26 yrs old not a single fault and 60mpg. Rusty underneath despite lanoguarded. Mechanically superb for a first driver. Tough as old boots. Daihatsu engine used by Toyota and psa. I too don’t skimp on tyres decent tyres make the works
D of difference to the drive

The brand of tyres on a car also really determinants how well it was cared for and looked after. One thing I always check. Especially on a more sporty car😉

Mike Brewer I wouldn’t buy a car from him if he paid me to take it lol 😂

No mention of looking at the old MOTs?! always the first thing I do before hitting the heart button on AT!

There’s a dealer in Western Australia, John Hughes, who’s been dealing cars for fifty something years. He ends every tv/radio bit with “Choose your dealer before you choose your car” and it’s so true.

If Mike turns up to buy your car. Just give him the key and let him take it away for nothing. Fastest way to send him on his way.

What an excellent pair! You have some great content Ben. Love Mike’s absolute humility.

This was the best thing I’ve seen in years!!!!!! Loads of patience Mike.

Well Ben, you are, of course, free to associate with whomever you choose.

Mike Brewer is a national treasure

I met Mike once at Tavarish's garage.  He's a funny guy!

Brilliant. The chemistry between the two of you was top-notch. Would love to see more of this kind of content 😂

Some really handy info in here. Every car owner should watch it. Thanks guys!
