In August, I was able to catch the CN A431/432 trains a few different times around the Decatur, IL area. This video captures the 4 different trains I saw throughout the month.
First up was an evening A431 rolling into town on August 8. I caught the train at the MLK crossing with my drone, thinking this would be a cool spot but with so many power poles and lines, it didn't turn out as nicely as I'd hoped.
A few days later on the 13th, I caught the A431 again, this time crossing the Sangamon River near the Lake Decatur dam. The angle from the west side of the bridge is tough with the power lines, but with the drone I think it makes for a nice shot with the dam in the background. I caught the train 1 more time crossing the diamond at WABIC.
The highlight of this video is from Sunday, August 16th, when the BNSF Golden Swoosh unit was leading A432 south out of town. I first caught the train at the Mt. Zion Fire Department building. Then once more just south of Dalton City passing the Nutrien fertilizer facility from the drone view. It was a pretty windy day, but the drone was able to fly alright. Full train is shown at the second location.
Final short clip shows another A431 arriving town at WABIC on August 22, with the "Every Child Matters" sticker unit in the lead, plus an ex-IC geep trailing 3rd.
Enjoy!
