I collect physical media for the same reason.  I don't want the streaming services to dictate my access to content.

In the close and present future, the gatekeepers of our cultural repository will reshape legacy media with AI to realise political objectives.

I never gave up physical media.  I like having control of what I watch. The same with any music I purchase. I still buy CDs. Another great thing that you should mention Dave, is the physical media just looks better than streaming.

I agree entirely with you ..physical media forever..

I am 66 and I never did buy into streaming. My family laughed at me when I insisted on buying real CD’s and DVD’s. They’re not laughing anymore.

The thing I don't like is commercials right in the middle of an important scene

A book on this subject that I saw a while back: THE EARTH DIES STREAMING

I’ve been buying blu rays and dvds because I don’t like streaming policies. Taking down content is a huge no no for me.

True fact....I was an 8th grader in 1981 and watched SOB in the dollar movie theater. Lol

I'm so glad I never gave mine away. The streaming services were scams and advertised unlimited movies and now you have to rent them, or hope they are on one you subscribe to that month, and now tolerate commercials.

Why in the world would anyone settle for streaming?  You're at the whim of companies that can pull your favorite movies off their service at any time and without warning.  If movies are important to you, invest in physical copies you can have...and view...whenever you want.

I just bought Quatermass and the pit!!

100 percent agree. I was amazed at how many movies in my collection aren’t on streaming - or weren’t when I was looking them up. Being able to watch what I want when I want is a massive reason I collect physical media

A huge reason to collect physical media is that streaming doesn't offer you the Dolby Atmos sound or near the resolution. Streaming also doesn't offer movie buffs the extras (bonus disc with behind the scenes, making of restoration of, etc.) or the frequently offered booklets.

When the Internet goes on a big downtime, you'll still have plenty of great movies to watch and enjoy!!

Not only are certain movies not available on streaming services, but when they are available they're generally of lesser picture and sound quality than a blu-ray.

You can also rip the dvd/Bluray and save them onto a hardrive so you can take the digital copy with you wherever you want😊

You and me both Dave... you and me both!  I'm up over 1000 movies so far and I plan on continuing to collect them.

It's criminal that the streaming services don't offer Young Frankenstein.

I have collected physical media since 1976, when I started with Beta Tape, then in the early 90's, VHS, by 2004 I got into collecting DVDs. I also started recording my own media since the 1970s. I still record a lot DVDs, especially older TV shows. Between recording and buying DVD's, I enjoy the collection. Love the complete seasons on TV shows too.
