“I wanted to write for my daughters.” That’s how economist Persio Arida explained his motivation for writing the article “Rakudianai,” published in piauí magazine in 2011 and considered one of the magazine’s most celebrated texts in its twenty years of existence.

The academic’s touching account of his memories of his youth and his involvement with left-wing activism during the military dictatorship was thoroughly examined during the 10th piauí Journalism Festival, in a conversation with Fernando de Barros e Silva, a reporter for piauí, and Fernando Gabeira, a political commentator for GloboNews.
