I met Jeremy very early on a Saturday morning in Dublin airport. I had taken a taxi to the airport, as my wife had decided to stay up until stupid o’clock to watch “Reversal of Fortune”. I was sitting landslide at the coffee shop having a coffee when Jeremy appeared and when asked what he wanted replied, ‘what he’s got smells lovely”. I then told him I needed to take a taxi to the airport as my wife had to watch the aforementioned film. Gracious as you would expect, not only did he buy me a coffee and a croissant, but wrote a lovely origami folded note to my wife. “My Dearest Julia,(sic), I believe you are a fan, and I thank you for that. Look after this old man of yours, he’s not a bad ‘un. Jeremy

The look of defeat in Jeremy's face when he thought he had no Irish heritage .. and then to find he was home all along. A brilliant story.

The first time i saw Brideshead Revisited on TV i was 12 years old back in 1982 and right there i was "in love" with Jeremy and his voice. Later the same year the book arrived in Portugal and i begged my mum to buy it, we went to the book store but the lady there didn't want to sell it because i was too young to read that so my mum said to her: "She is more adult then you think, if she wants the book you sell her the book!!" I'm 55 now and my mum is 91 and we both still laugh about that episode and i still have the book with me! He does has one of those voices we will never forget!

I found this episode fascinating for many reasons. The idea that not knowing anything about his connection to West Cork he always felt at home there, only to find he had a ancestor from a few miles up the road is extraordinary,

And the idea that some of his ancestors loved poetry and wrote some, and the wildness of places by the sea, and Jeremy himself has an appreciation of the "Celtic twilight" as his ancestors did too.

It kinda raises the question to as to how we can have such an affinity for a place we'd never been to before, and that innate feeling like we're somehow meant to be there. It's almost primordial. I'm glad Jeremy found his connection to West Cork, for him it's like going full circle. He found his way home.

"Maybe he was riding on the donkey...Maybe he had a donkey!" The donkey is of utmost importance. Love it.

Receiving that letter just made his life. You can see his emotional response as he reads it. That moment clearly brought him full circle to the reason he feels so at home in Ireland, and in particular west cork. You're definitely one of ours now Jeremy.😊Ireland is home.

I love Jeremy Irons and this episode dearly. We could call this one: Are you My Irish Ancestor? Seriously, though, I love when he finds her, and adore his bond with his dogs. How lovely.

"A move away from the Anglo-Saxon steadiness towards the Celtic twilight." What a beautiful expression <3 Why don't I speak like this in everyday?

spirituality , intuition , comfort, He arrived at Cork and felt like he is home. he felt comfortable but couldnt explain it, he just knew this is where I feel it. out of all the places in Ireland he could have chosen to have a cottage he chose the very place his ancestor was from , and he didnt even know she was from there! its amazing when you think about it. its like the DNA or genes are passed down generations and they talk to you.. they tell you.. take me home..

I have traced my geneology to year 1000 or so in Scotland, and 1200s in England and it always makes me happy, flabbergasted, and enthralled when I can hold the actual document or book signed by one of my ancestors from centuries ago. This is exciting for me but he must be over the moon.
