Russian warships were moored along every arm of the pier, their hulls converging on the point where the piers met at the center of the base. From the air it looked like a target waiting to be hit, and a Ukrainian reconnaissance drone was already lining up the shot.

In this footage, a huge fireball erupts right at the junction, its glow spreading across the water while debris flies outward toward the ships on every side. Packed around a single spot, none of the warships had room to escape the blast.

Concentrating a fleet this tightly turns an entire squadron into one target — a mistake that has cost Russia's Black Sea Fleet ship after ship.
