I like to use my first hot cue on all tracks for a 4 beat loop where I'm going to mix that track in.
BTW I’ve found a way that you can kind of have two auto loops. You've got the one you set later in the song by clicking the HC arrow to red… but also if you set the first hot cue at the start of the song as a loop and then put the settings ‘Playback starts at memory/hotcue nearest beginning of track’, it will come up as an auto loop when you load the track. I find this super useful because I can just get a track synced and playing in phrase and looping through the first 32. Then only need to stop the loop when you want track to start playing. Plus I can beatjump it forward to quickly and easily visually check how many ‘32s’ before the first drop (…usually 6 or 8). Visually you have the orange square to improve optics, instead of just a red line.
The thing i struggle with is consistency across genres, like you highlight Hip-Hop vs D&B, i try and stick to HC3 for the Drop but sometimes its ends up as HC2 or HC4. I really need to sort my shizzle out :)
