What’s your favorite song on Breach and why?

Also, Tyler falls down exactly seven times in City Walls mv.

Proverbs 24:16
“For a righteous man may fall seven times
And rise again,
But the wicked shall fall by calamity.“

As someone who has been struggling with addiction for 4 years, thank you for this video :) (2 weeks clean!)

To say this is a "Theory" is wrong. This do be feeling like facts haha!! I absolutely loved this! When listening to Breach I've wondered what the lyrics actually meant, what the deeper meanings are! Thank you for this, well done, keep up the good work and God Bless!!

Notice how the album starts with "abandoned by the sun (Son)" and ends with "then the sun (Son) begins to rise"

When people theorized Breach would be their most Christian album since Trench, I thought they were stupid for these claims… I’m glad I’m wrong.

Please bear with my wild theory...

As many have noticed, Breach is pun... Yes, it's about a "breach of the walls" but it's also about a breach of trust or a Contract. I think Tyler at one point made a deal (a Contract) with God on how to share his faith. Maybe it was in regards to this 10-year storyline... and I think he may have wrestled and failed at times, and thought maybe God was making note of each of those times (Tally). I think the cultimation of Clancy's story is that though we often breach the contracts we make with God, he continues to pursue us (the Torchbearer) and he believes in US (Tally), even when we struggle to beleive in Him and/or His Goodness.

In City Walls, community didn't end up fully working (the stay alive symbol |-/ didn't have lasting effect), and Ned's antlers (creativity) ultimately failed too.... The only that will never ever fail us is God. Tyler's lyrics in this album remind us that in our journey of sanctification, that only thing that never fails, is God.

Praise the Lord! He is good. God's love never fails. (Psalm 136: 1)

Building off this, I don't think Garbage is about addiction or relapse. I think it's about a draining of creativity or ability of Tyler to express himself. I think he's concerned that this drained feeling is maybed God's doing ("maybe you don't fix and you like it like this") and it's almost God's subtle way of saying it's time to make an adjustment.

This culminates in Downstairs.... "Have I forced your hand?" he wonders... Has this breach of trust forced God to put an end to something... maybe his current music-making as we fans know it? Tyler says to God that He can have it all, but then he also says  "Mercy!" Tyler battles with knowing that He must surrender it all to God, his entire career, all his music, but it's certainly challenging.

And yet, no matter what, no matter how many fails and mistakes we make in our journey of follwing Jesus and surrending all to him,  He relentlessly pursues us. As we see in Drag Path, we will survive the night (a recurring theme in each album cycle), and look upon the brightness of day, and we'll know that God, the rescuer, the bringer of light, has found us!

“I’ll take what I believe, and I’m hiding it downstairs”

“Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭119‬:‭11‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
Downstairs could also be referring to Tyler’s own heart, mind, or soul.

Brother as a longtime fan of Twenty One Pilots and a Christian for many many years I have been looking for something like this deep dive for so long and your explanations absolutely had me in tears because I have felt the exact same way about what I believe their music to be about, yet I have always found it difficult to put into words. Thank you so so much for this video and I am extremely excited for your explanations to come about the other albums! Favorite song off Breach either has to be Drag Path or Tally because I have struggled over and over again with questioning why God would love a sinner like me (Tally), but then taking the focus point off me and remembering Jesus and His love for me (Drag Path)! Thank you again!

It’s very important to think about addiction here and realize that addiction is not just confined to substance abuse. What’s your addiction? We all have one or even some, and they may not even have nothing to do with drugs or alcohol.

Heads up: ‘Vignette’ is described as about addiction, but Tyler Joseph actually uses it metaphorically — it’s about mental, emotional, or spiritual struggles, not literal drug use. Lots of people misread this, so worth keeping in mind!

Demas in this Bible abandoned Paul and the mission because he “loved this present world.” (2 Timothy 4:10) i don’t think it’s a coincidence that Dema is named what it is. I think Dema is a metaphor for falling away from faith and back into the world. Clancy defeats Blurryface during the “entertain my faith” part of the song. And as soon as God helps him win, he becomes that other side of himself again. We always fall short of the glory of God. The album cover is definitely a blurry Cross, but it is also the skull. The Cross doesn’t become clear because the cycle always repeats. But there is always hope because the torch bearer always pursues. “I’m still on fire, at least I’m pretty sure.”

Center mass is slowly becoming my favorite song. Almost like tylor is telling us how he made it in the mucus industry as a christian man. center mass is a prayer posture. also, he said “ found out what i’m worth, I run to you, I hope you understand this run-on sentence.” Run-on sentence to me is (prayer) “tattoos only hurt when meaning fades”( His cross tattoo). “I think my skin got worse with good intentions”( His flesh). “I don’t want to say what happened, I just wanna let it Go “( some kind of event that caused trauma). “Nothing was the same right after, I went to the funeral” ( Could be when he gave his life to Christ and the old him died)(or a actual funeral of a love one from suicide). “I miss you so, so much, take what you want” Take what you want from me” “Took you for granted”(is a raw confession of being distant from God).
Though their music is not worship music. The absolute raw emotion that Tyler presents to God is an act of worship. He understands that God is and was in is to come. I can relate so much to twenty one pilots. It’s not even funny. Especially in this song. I’ve lost over 10 friends to suicide and it never gets easy. But I’ve also had moments of backsliding with God in those moments actually truly come to know what I’m worth In Christ. I don’t know, brother I could be wrong. This is just my thoughts.

AYYYY Shoutout to the Torchbearer trinity theory!!! ❤

this may be the reason why twnety one pilots is my favorite band. even if this is a reach i anytime i hear some lyrics it makes me think about God. so its pretty nice that it can relate to a Christian realationship faith with Jesus.

We eating well once this drops 🔥🔥🔥

What makes Downstairs all the more overtly Christian is that it's literally a 14 year old song. It's a song that was supposed to be on Self-Titled, but never made it. And Tyler even said recently that the reason they're probably not even gonna play it live is because he's "changed since then". He doesn't believe those things anymore. He's MATURED in his faith journey. He doesn't doubt as much anymore. So, while yes, this song does have a place on this album and it deserved to be released, it's good to know, and even Tyler himself has gone on record saying that that ISN'T Tyler's beliefs anymore. He's a changed man.

Downstairs does a word play. The cellar down there is his heart. His mind is full of violent islands and bad weather so that’s why he goes into his heart for safety

Thanks for all the evidence and scripture. I love this band and this album so much, and I love learning new perspectives.

In City Walls, there are so many references to past songs. The line where he says "I wonder where you are, I wanted you to show me" was a reference to their song, Polarize, where he sings "I don't know where you are, you'll have to come and find me." Among many other references I can't remember off the top of my head.
