The 4th of July scene is peak America

@imahoare4742 11 days ago

This movie is PEAK Americana. It's funny, because this movie takes place in 1962, but it easily feels like it could take place in 1992, and it makes me kinda sad because this kind of childhood experience just doesn't exist anymore.

Benny is one of the best kids in movie history. He's Sam Gamgee-level friend material.

Heroes get remembered, but legends never die Follow your heart, kid, and you'll never go wrong."

The movie playing was "The Wolfman" and fifties CLASSIC horror movie that every kid of that generation went to see on the big screen and today is considered a CLASSIC!

Fun fact, The two actors who played young and adult versions of Benny the Jet, are real life brothers

Tom AKA Smalls was a friend of mine and when this movie came out it was major news that a kid from my town was starring in a new Hollywood movie. Turns out the movie became a childhood favorite for kids everywhere for decades

I live in Utah where the actual sandlot is. They recently fixed it up cause it was overgrown, and the pool is somewhere I swam every summer. Shout out to Ogden!

15:03 The moment this dawned on you...

Having heard it your whole life, you finally know the origin to "You're killin' me, Smalls!"

THE SANDLOT was my life growing up in Miami during the 1950s. Citrus Grove Junior High had outside basketball courts and a huge baseball/football field. We played football during that season, basketball during basketball season, and baseball during baseball season. It didn't matter how many of us there were, we could make up games if there were only 3 of us to play. There were lots of kids in the neighborhood so we usually had at least 1/2 dozen kids to play a game. The 1950s was a great time to grow up.😊❤

The kid that plays Hambino is in a recent commercial. About S'mores. In the commercial he's talking to his kids, and he's telling him he's somewhat of a expert about them.

:trophy-yellow-smiling: Your recollections and laughter during every inning was a winner, one of the most fun Sandlot reactions,
so best wishes as You and your kids make your own memories.

Statistically speaking, neighborhoods are safer today than they used to be. We're just more terrified than we used to be, and you'll be prosecuted if you let your kids roam around unsupervised today. Which creates the feeling of danger, but it's all BS. We're creating weaker and weaker generations. Love Sandlot though, this is how it used to be back in the 80's for me lol. Good times.

15:00 Fun fact, the orginal line was going to be "you kill me, Smalls." but Patrick Renna slightly tweaked it for comedic flow to "you're killing me, Smalls." (changed the tone of the delivery) which became the iconic catchprase that we all know and love.

We all wished we had a friend like Benny "The Jet" Rodriguez.

@charlize1253 11 days ago

It's funny but accurate to what kids think: at that age, I would have been way more scared to knock on a stranger's door and ask for the ball than face the dog

Squints...the man, the myth, the legend.

21:15 If you pay close attention, he never lets go of his glasses. 24:10 I still love America & always will. This scene always brings a tear to my eye, as it brings back a lot of memories of playing ball w/ my friends as kids.
