Cool. I have one of those and it uses a black cloth that's pulled away and reveals the card underneath. The advantage is, that i can reveal even pictures (which is what i used it for) and even with a card the frame is not wide enough to hide a card so the audience has no clue. The mechanism is very delicate, it triggers from the force of the deck being sprung at the frame.
I discovered your channel yesterday Don, and have watched many of your video already. And yes, I subscribed, haha. I'm taking some of your designs, but plan to use 1/8" plywood rather than cardstock, simply for aesthetics purposes. That said, I love how your videos can be utilized by both children and adults for builds. Cheers!
Such clever designs, the tricks you put together! I love how it's all fairly inexpensive craft stuff. You're like the Bob Ross of magic. It's just so calming watching these videos. Definitely going to be trying some of these. Have you considered using something like Musou Black? It pretty much eliminates any highlights or shadows. A "blacker than black" paint. Little bit pricey, but might be worth it for those who want to make something for an actual performance.
The other problem is, picking the same card that is behind the glass. Usually the trick would be done with an unsuspecting person picking the card. Nice video. Thank you. I subscribed.
The thread could be attached to a cloth which is used to temporarily cover the empty frame. The cloth (and thread) are pulled away slowly enough for the magic to happen under cover. OR the thread is secured to the table top. A spectator covers the frame with a loose handkerchief. The magician lifts the frame to show the audience both sides and replaces it on the table. Mission accomplished.
