The "I don't understand the appeal of superman, he's so boring" to "oh now I get it after interacting with a single Superman story" pipeline is so real man

David Lynch: "Eraserhead is my most spiritual film."
Interviewer (excited): "Elaborate on that!"
David Lynch (also looks excited): "No."

sex and the city 2 is a wild pick for number 1 but you do you man, respect

John realizing his freinds where pricks, leaving them, almost getting lost in the woods, and then watching end of eva the next day is really funny to me for some reason

"fun" fact, Grave of the Fireflies and Totoro were originally released as a double feature in Japan (with Totoro playing second so people wouldn't end it all right then and there). I went to a screening of this exact lineup last summer and holy hell. Totoro is greatly augmented by the context of Grave, which really emphasizes the darker undercurrents/plot points and legitimizes the stakes. It just hits SO much harder when you fully appreciate its joy and innocence, seeing them as a triumph in spite of the world's horrors instead of just a carefree escape that forgets them altogether. Definitely a heavy sit-down to watch these back to back, but highly recommended

End of Eva in to Space Jam is sending me

I’m so glad he put Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties in fourth place

John without glasses: Lovely lad. Looks like they'd help you carry in groceries.
John with glasses: Threatening aura. Feel like he'd wreck me in checkers and bully me about that.

I can't believe that this is what my spouse and I cuddled up to watch on fucking christmas, but we had a good time

In regards to Wolf Children, I showed that movie to my mom and the level at which she related to it as a single mom struggling to make ends meet and suffering through tragedy and the growth and eventual separation of her children, she was absolutely shook to her core and sobbed multiple times during the movie.  I know you think it doesn't earn its payoff, but the extent to which it hit my mom personally I feel gave it a lot more validity than one might normally think.

43:05 Editors note, the movie john meant is the first one, titled "The Blair Witch Project", the trailer being shown is the 2016 movie "Blair Witch"

I was born the year Alien premiered in theaters. "Alien is 1979. That is so fucking old."
Thanks, John. I'm going to go weep onto my dinner plate since it is 4:30 in the afternoon. Then I am going to yell at the clouds about how not old I am.

Wake up babe, Eyepatch Wolf just dropped 4 hours of movie recommendations

A line that sticks with me from Plague Dogs ever since I watched it, it comes near the end and it just cements the tragedy of it all; I can't remember which one says what, but it goes:

- We failed at being wild animals, and we failed at being pets
- We didn’t fail, we just started too late

I fucking gets me, man

01:48:38  Curious fact: The woman who gives the tutorial at the beginning of Battle Royale is the voice actor for Asuka in Evangelion and Casca in Berserk (1997)

My boyfriend watched Akira for the first time with me, because he had seen all the memes of the akira slide and he assumed it was a movie about cyberpunk street racing and he wanted to see what the fuss was about. He did not tell me this is why he wanted to watch it, so I just assumed he knew what he was in for and put it on... he did not know what he was in for.

46:05 "I've got a lot of lesbian friends, and I just want those little guys to be happy" brother, as a fellow dude whose friends are mostly women and other....not dudes, I've never related to a sentence so hard in my life 😅😂

I'm going to watch every single movie of this list in order from 100 to 1 and slowly, but surely, start to become the JohnPatchWolf.
I already have an appointment with my tattoo artist for the Makima tattoo on the foot.
I will replace the wolf and then I will finish Shenmue 3.

The cool thing about Gogo Yubari is that she absolutely had The Bride dead-to-rights. It was sheer luck that the fight played out the way it did.
