On Saturday, around 11:30 p.m., the first reports of a fire on the premises of a tire manufacturer in Gammertingen were received. When the first emergency responders arrived, a newly built warehouse with an administrative wing was ablaze. The fire brigade, which was on site with a large contingent, brought the fire under control and prevented it from spreading to other buildings. Emergency services treated four people for suspected smoke poisoning. They were taken to nearby hospitals. The location of these four people when the fire broke out is still unclear. The company itself was not operating at the time, but according to witnesses, people from a company event were on the premises. The fire affected tires, film, vehicles, and the building itself. The damage caused cannot yet be precisely quantified, but is estimated at several million euros. A total of 275 firefighters, 40 emergency medical personnel, five emergency chaplains, and two police patrols were deployed to the scene. Due to the resulting smoke, residents of the municipality of Gammertingen were asked to keep their doors and windows closed. A corresponding warning was broadcast over the radio. The police also issued warnings via loudspeaker announcements in the neighboring residential area. The cause of the fire cannot yet be determined. The investigation is ongoing.

Vorläufige Erkenntnisse zur Ursache des Großbrands beim Reifenhändler in Gammertingen
Nach dem Vorliegen erster Ermittlungsergebnisse gehen Staatsanwaltschaft und Kriminalpolizei zum aktuellen Erkenntnisstand davon aus, dass der Brandausbruch auf dem Gelände eines Reifengroßhändlers am 23.07.22 durch das zuvor abgebrannte Feuerwerk verursacht wurde. Vorbehaltlich eines noch ausstehenden Brandgutachtens haben umfangreiche kriminaltechnische Untersuchungen und weitergehende Ermittlungsmaßnahmen - so beispielsweise die Befragung von Zeugen und die Einsichtnahme von Foto- und Videoaufnahmen - ergeben, dass das Feuer an mindestens drei voneinander unabhängigen Stellen auf dem Werksgelände ausgebrochen ist. Hinweise auf eine vorsätzliche Brandlegung konnten in diesem Zusammenhang nicht erlangt werden.
Ob möglicherweise fahrlässiges Verhalten im Raum steht oder von einer Verkettung unglücklicher Umstände auszugehen ist, ist Gegenstand der weiteren Abklärungen.
