Freddy Sanchez was one of the best pick up for the giants ever in the the fact that his defense was the of his career and his batting that was just crazy not hitting home runs but putting the ball in play when needed and also leading off an inning he was the giant with the least props ..the freak was just a freak no one knew how to handle it at that time..
I will never forget, in college I had just transferred to USC from CSN in Las Vegas. Btw the JC would have spanked USC every time, but it was supposed to be a step up in talent. So it was midway through the season and we had to go to UW. I kept hearing about this small guy that threw gas, and had electric stuff, and I knew a kid from growing up and I thought it was him. So I told my coach, he’s way beatable etc. When I told my coach he’s beatable my coach gave me a weird look and said I don’t think we’re talking about the same guy? FF to Friday night and I got done warming up and went to sit on the bench to relax before the game underwent. Just then I heard a pop from the catchers glove and it kind of surprised me. Then I looked up and I saw Timmy Lincecum stepping behind and just doing a big follow through and he was throwing 94 just playing catch. Then he stepped in the mound and was sitting at 97-99 all game long, and his best pitches were his breaking stuff. But I remember getting this feeling before the game of a sick feeling that I was kinda wasting my time playing baseball. I was the best everywhere I had been, and I knew I was going pro, but I knew I could never do what Tim was doing on the mound; and I was semi talented and a decent player, even an All-American. For a kid that was maybe 5’10” and maybe 150lbs that was mlb ready at 20 yrs old he’s just unbelievable… I’m was happy to see him win all the accolades and World Series, he deserved it…
