The ingenuity of using a simple potato to remove rust from kitchen tools is truly inspiring. It reflects the deep respect our grandparents had for their belongings, choosing to restore rather than replace. A beautiful lesson in sustainability and care.

I've always used damp newspapers to clean glass - works a treat.

I was born in 1946. I still use many of these tips & others through out my life. I try to pass the ideas on to children & grands but they just ignore me. Roll their eyes a go on wasting time & money on crap “ NEW PRODUCTS “. Most of the time because a little elbow grease & time is needed too. My granddaughter’s family is sick now with congestion and colds caught & sore throat. I’ve shared a simple remedy to detox. Put chopped onion preferably red 1 Tbs wrapped in gauze. Place on bottom of one foot then wrap the foot. Leave on one night. If another day or so is needed for relief? Repeat. She hasn’t used it.😢👎🏻!! I live with my daughter & I still use my herbs n OLD Remedies FOR MYSELF🥰👍🏻🙏🏼💯✅🤩

Using mayonnaise to erase crayon marks on walls is brilliant. Today, we'd spend $20 on a 'magic eraser' full of chemicals. Grandma just opened the fridge and solved it for pennies. We really overcomplicate life these days!

Wooden spoon never worked for me. I use a thin layer of butter at the pots rim and it does not boil over

thank you for bringing this up and reminding me of things I had well forgotten. I am 76 years old and I will be going back to some of these as long as I’m still on this earth.

You know that ice cube trick works on our skin too. If someone has a stroke and is mortified by their sagging side of the face, simply take an ice cube and rub it around on the problem area and your skins elasticity gets activated and goes back to normal.

This is my first time to watch your Hidden House Tricks. I remember my Grandma using some of these. I am a 50's child.

Many tips I use still, my mother used and I’m sure my grandmother did.
The one tip that needs a qualification is toothpaste for cleaning eye glasses. Todays lenses are different and we have them treated with films and the the abrasive in tooth paste would destroy your lenses. Stick to a tiny dot of dawn. Worke perfectly without damage.

Back in the 50's and 60's everyone had a BREADBOX in the kitchen to keep the bread fresh!! ALSO, everybody had a milkbox on the front porch! It was an insulated metal box that the milkman would deposit your milk and butter when delivering, to keep the dairy products cool until someone retrieved them!

You Freeze Wet Teabags. Green Tea is extremely healthy for under the eyes. Then place them under the eyes. They slowly melt into the skin, slow enough that the skin can absorb it as it melts.
