Something I find cool about Arkham and Jester's design how it represents his two personas being a reflection of both Dante and Vergil, but taken to the extreme and exaggerating their worst tendencies

As Jester, he takes Dante's goofball persona and turns completely juvenile. He's a warning of what Dante can become in this journey if he didn't mature and learn to take responsibillity.

As Arkham, he embraces Vergil's cold nature and becomes nearly emotionless. As much as Vergil tries to act calm & collected, you can notice moments where he drops the facade and acts hot-tempered. Arkham is what Vergil can look like if he let his persona become his actual self. It's a cool way of making the main antagonist's two designs contrast the major arcs of the cast.

Jokes aside Dante being shirtless the whole game really reflects how little he takes the situation seriously, and how his developement affects him by the end of the game with the outfit change while also being a reference to DMC 1. Pretty cool.

Lily: “DENIED!”

her first time playing a dmc game and she already understands the characters better than the director of the netflix anime

Atlus comment isn't off though. Dante's and Vergil's DTs were designed by Kazuma Kaneko, lead artist of Shin Megami Tensei therefore Persona uses mostly his demon designs as well.

Something that made me mad in the anime is that they showed lady in her 5 design for like 5 secs then never again I'd prefer that then her generic cop design

Vergil’s head in his devil trigger mode is supposed resemble a samurai’s helmet as well as an insectoid given how kaneko’s input goes

Watching someone that didn't understand why fans were so dissapointed at the anime go into the game and realize "Oh... everything in the game is just better" makes me happy

Dante being Red and Vergil being Blue is a reference to the Japanese folk legend about the Red and Blue Oni.

So many people playing Devil May Cry recently

Despite that Netflix show being the way it is. I like that it kind of sparked a new interest towards the series

Everytime she says 2006 instead of 2005, take a sip.

Edit: oh... checked something, didnt realize that the special edition Lily played was released in 2006.

lady's design is inspired by the russian singer Yulia Volkova's school girl costume she wore in the musical duo t.A.T.u.
just look up some pictures of her from the 2000s and you'll see she was basically lady IRL same hair and school girl costume.

Both sons of sparda and Nero were all played (voice acted and possibly mocapped cant remember) by former power rangers. Reuben Langdon (Dante) was in charge of auditions and had to bring in people he trusted so he went to his former coworkers. Thus why we have Dan Southworth as Vergil and Johnny Yong Bosch as Nero

Lady's design and Lady as a whole is such a perfect blend of badass and cute at the same time.

@kangurukaiser9395 1 year ago

Worst part about Lady's anime design is in her flashback we can see her wear her DMC4/5 design which is closer to 3 and a better look

The thing I love about Vergil is that DMC 5 heavily implies that Vergil gets a kick out of being edgy, rather than thinking he's cool or something. Just like Dante being the "wooho pizza man". They both do it for self-amusement.

Dear editor of the video, how dafuq you made me feel agony of the death by a thousand cuts stabbing my heart away in 2 seconds with Green day...
Analysis by Lily is great as always but screw the editor guy. He deserves all pinky crushes when hitting corners of the wall.

16:20 Editor what are you doing? You're gonna summon an angry mob of Toku fans with that one image alone.

The Netflix show is confusing because on one hand it nails the music selection, Dante's struggle with Vergil, Dante's confidence, the animation was decent, and the main antagonist is great... but then it just shoots itself in the foot with the sledgehammer style political themes, nerfing Dante's abilities for the sake of plot, and changing Lady's character to create an arc that wasn't really needed for her.

Gloom aside, DMC as a franchise has unapologetically great designs
