You know Jim's death is very tragic when even Stalter and Waldorf comforted each other, grieving, and sung along to the song.

“This video appears after Defunctland’s final installment in their Jim Henson retrospective is uploaded”

“The emotional waterworks continues”

Kermit: Next time, Cookie Monster can do it with you. I'm leaving.
Girl: I love you.
Kermit: I love you too.
Girl: Thank you [kisses Kermit]

So funny, cute and adorable

“That’s the way the boss would want it” 😭

R.I.P Jim Henson...if I do make it to hevean after my death...hope to see u one day in person.

"All we have are silly songs and whoopie cushions"    Fozzie, my dear beloved friend, there is no better way to honor the memory of the great Jim Henson than to sing some silly songs and prank someone with a whoppie cushion.  The world needs little silliness every now and then.

"He died? We were just getting to know him" hit too hard

"What the roll of film?"
"It's Jim Henson's biography. It was laying on Kermit's desk."
Knowing he voiced Kermit, and noticing the mostly absent Kermit in this episode...that made my heart lurch.

When Robin was talking about how Jim Henson believed in them. I think it was really Jerry saying that Jim believes the muppets can go on without him.

I was reading an interview with Steve Whitmire from 1999 and he talked about how nervous he was delivering the last lines of the special for Kermit in Jim's place... And it's so apparent when you watch it! I can only imagine what it felt like... this was Steve's very first appearance as Kermit, after all.

I have this on tape.  I don't think Henson's death meant much to me when this originally aired.  I knew he created the muppets, and that he died.  The impact didn't really set in back then.  It hit harder when i watched it years later.  The franchise feels much different without Jim or Brian's hands on it, that's for sure.

I’m not crying
they read the letters
IM NOT CRYING

Status: crying

People are giving Matt Vogel crap now over his Kermit but Steve's Kermit was rough here too in the beginning

One of the things I always hated when I lost my faith was the idea that people like Jim are dead and gone, never to be seen again rather than waiting and watching over us. But it really isn't the case. People are alive for as long as we remember them, as long as we tell their stories, as long as they inspire us. Jim's mind created so much magic, the muppets are still watched and loved by children who born long after his passing, Sesame Street still inspires and teaches, people still learn to sing covering Rainbow connection, people still tell terrible jokes in the Fozzy voice and everyone knows who Kermit is.

Jim has passed, but what he, Jane, Frank, Caroll, Dave, Brian etc all created and still create to this day will live as long as someone Hugs Elmo, Impersonates Mrs Piggy or laughs at Gonzo, he will always be with us.

Jim Jenson the greatest man who created the greatest phenomena of entertainment ever made!😭

That sound you hear at 2:05? That's the fourth wall shattering.

They need this for today for kids

Most heartbreaking 50 minutes of TV ever, but when Kermit comes in at the end it is one of the most life affirming moments I have ever experienced.

This is really hard to sit through. All these years later and I still get misty thinking about Jim Henson and the needless way that he died.

Fozzie: "OK stop looking at them, it's.... too weird!" LOL!
