One word, Chris: cookbook. Max has a cookbook called Tasting History available both online and in bookstores; I got mine at Barnes & Noble. Only Civil War recipe in it is for bread pudding served in said war’s hospitals. You should definitely watch that one, with or without the cookbook in hand, along with the CW prison video he mentions here

I love how Max always adds a lot of first person accounts. Makes it come to live.

I saw "Max Miller" and "Civil War" and then immediately thought of you Chris.

34:10 "Disrespectful" is the word I would use. You're out there getting shot at while some rich fool is watching like he's at the theater

"Minus the mustard?!"

SHOTS FIRED....

It's strange to realise that the man with the most experience of warfare at that battle was probably William Russell, the war correspondent, since he had spent almost two years covering the Crimean War.

Tasting History is a phenomenal channel. Vlogging Through History reacting to it takes it up a notch.

You have resparked the love of history for me! If you went to a meet and greet i would love to shake your hand and thank you for sharing history with facts. But also not being afraid of sharing your opinions. Thank you VTH

You and Max would be a fun collab.

Would love to see you recreate some of his Civil War recipes and do a picnic where you talk about the Civil War!

In the series North & South which I worked on ,we re-enacted the retreat from Bull Run, over and over again. I was a reenactor recruited to take part in the filming. Being that I was a hardcore I wanted to do it authenticity, therefore I had a full knapsack on my back. In the route scene, we literally had to run about 200 yards at a full sprint with full kit. I had a frock coat, knapsack, all my traps and a rifle. After about four takes which took the entire morning we broke for lunch. That’s when I stuck my Knaack with nothing but straw and every take thereafter I was shedding gear as I was running away. My buddy, who is the smart one, he just laid on the field, begging soldiers to help him as they ran past. It was an absolutely extraordinary experience to work on that production, and I have so many stories. We film the show just outside in Natchez Mississippi.

I would absolutely love watching you cook and try these

You should watch Max's civil war prison mock apple pie!

Yes, that is why it is called a pound cake. Just a simple recipe anyone can remember and do.

Max Miller does a wonderful job of bringing history alive. One of his best series is food from the Homefront, where he makes recipes that Americans may have been eating from 1941-45. But also what the Russians, Germans, Brits, Italians, and even Japanese Americans were cooking in the internment camps.

34:00 I can't stop laughing at the bombastic smirk

I would be afraid to catch a stray while picnicking near a battle.

That hoodie is dope.

Yes please. I would love to watch you cook some of these recipes.

Here is the next great collaboration lol. VTH and Tasting History!!!
