I have a x1 pro v4 - 72v - have done 3000 km on it - constantly running at 6000w and hammering the fuck out of it and have not had 1 issue with the motor (worn out many cassettes and chains though).  I love this motor you should see the looks I get when I overtake traffic at 80kmh  wearing a minidress and a ciggie hanging out of my mouth...  people even take my photo haha

That's awesome! I'm glad you like my video!

Just wanted to clarify that the first video was from my very first test ride with the 750W BAFANG HUB MOTOR still installed but not connected. The extra weight of the motor definitely presented a challenge.

To address this, I've already swapped out the wheels for traditional ones to significantly reduce weight and lessen the strain on the motor. I'll be creating a new video soon to showcase these modifications and hopefully help others in their builds. If anyone needs the JP40 can be purchase on my store. Check my channel for more details.

Feel free to ask any questions you may have, I'm happy to share my experience and insights. The bike is still running great

Thanks for showing us what this bike is for. I was confused at why somebody needed so much power. Different situations demand for different solutions.

I see many new reviews of the  Bonnell 775 MX with the gen 4 CYC motor. Riding that bike hard with no complaints as far as I can see. Even the Electric Cycle Rider flogged it over and over, hot days in the desert riding, no problem.

Really glad to see comparisons against prebuilts. I feel a lot of sur ron channels distort their videos using the fish eye lens to make everything they do "more exciting" and "faster" than it really is.

Thanks mate.

I have a Gen 2 with the BAC2000 and I just put in an order for the Gen 4 and a drivetrain kit. I have had nothing but issues with the ASI controller. The first one wouldn't pull more than 3.2kw for the majority of its life. At around the 1500 mile mark, I was magically able to get the full 5kw for about two days before that controller completely died. I ordered a second one and just installed it yesterday and the display/on/off plug on the harness different from before, so it didn't fit the old display or even the new one.. After rewiring  it(I've lost or thrown out my old harness), it refuses to power on. DOA? Now I'm getting ready to put in another order for a cyc controller conversion kit to get rid of the ASI once and for all.

The actual motor and drivetrain have worked flawlessly otherwise over 1500 miles and was a blast even at half power. I can't wait for the Gen 4, I've heard so far it's much better.

I've put about 400 miles on my gen 4 with absolutely zero issues so far. I can put 6kw to it, but rarely do. I generally keep it at 3 to 4kw. I love it. The app makes it so easy to dial in. I'll take it over a Surron because it's stealthy. It just looks like I'm riding a regular e bike, but I can go 50+ mph if I want. I suspect I could hit 55 or even 60 but have no desire to.

Thanks for the video and info.  I have a gen 3, went thru a motor and a controller in the first 4 months, but it's run good for a year since those failures.  Since the motor failure I've limited it to 40 mph (a magnet coming off the rotor caused the 1st failure at 45 plus mph).

Any more feedback on reliability for the Photon motor since have yours repaired?

I need a 120mm bbshd with peek gear installed and lubed up for my fat bike

I definitely think I will hold on before I buy the GEN4. It would be great to see more videos in a year or so time to see how they’ve held up, especially the ones that were using 72 V batteries. Four minutes going full throttle is good however I don’t like the fact that it will reduce it down to 2 1/2 kW when it gets over 57°C. Again with the gen three there’s been that many that are blown up and fried it makes you think do we need to wait for the technology to improve you clearly pointed out there is many small parts within the motor which is the downside to it so there will be lots of maintenance compared to your likes your BBSHD.

Ive been pushing the gen 4 at full power with loads of problems, the motor has been off the bike more than it has been on the bike. Ive now sold it and gone to a bafang hd motor.
The reason you dont see posts with bad reviews on the Facebook group is because you get silenced by the admins and moderators and postS get taken down its ABSOLUTLY SHOCKING( I HAVE PROOF OF THIS AND CYC DONT CARE)

I suppose 72V and 50A would be ok for 25 mph or 40 km/h, long distance traveling?

What battery? Cells? And configuration

Are you not using the heavy duty drive train cyc offers? What kinds of problems ran you into with the motor itself?

What would be the best things you would do to help cool off a Bonnell gen 4 motor with the 72v(or is it 65) a65 battery. Anything with the settings or programming? Or re-grease any of the components on a certain schedule for this heat just in case? Would you swap any other controller or BMS into the system for more performance?

It would be nice to see a test of the Gen 4 on a proper full suspension bike giving it a proper thrashing offroad with steep technical climbs and rough terrain. That's where the reliability (or lack thereof) will really show.

Just FYI the guy had resistance on his bike because it had a hub motor on the back so yeah it might be able to do 6 kW for longer I'm 300 lb and at fall temperatures I did six kW and never had thermal runaway

Watching this video makes me love my BBSHD even more.  I’ll take reliability over power any day.
