Very informative, thank you.
I just acquired one today for $14 in a garage clearance and at first thought it was a British Record brand router plane.
Closer inspection showed the Stanley logo. Your video now tells me its a type 2 router plane!
However, it has been modified by some previous owner. The knobs look to have been replaced but that can be rectified. The single blade it came with is not the type it came with but has the notch for a height adjuster. Finally, a threaded height adjustment post and adjustment nut was added to 'modernize' it to make it like the type 2. 71 1/2...
Still fully functional and great to have in my toolset. 😀

Nice rundown Michael. I bought a Stanley type 1 a while back thinking it was an original Cope patent plane. Henry Cope patented the plane in January of 1884 and sold it to Stanley that same year. Needless to say, there aren't too many in existence. Cope's original model had a different collar to hold the iron. He redesigned it shortly thereafter to the style Stanley ended up using. The only other difference with Cope's router was that it was scaled down being reasonably smaller than Stanley's version.
