Thank you for this video! I wasn't sure how to get to the needle valve. Your video was a great help! Mine was clogged. Once I sprayed carb cleaner through it, it blew the blockage out. Now it runs great! This is the 2nd carb my 250 has had. I love the saw, but it does have carb issues. My dad has the same saw, and he had to replace the carb after just owning it a month. Thank you!!!!

I too have an MS250 “InstaFlood” but I never thought about dirt behind the metering diaphragm that might hold the needle off its seat. I will check that next.

This is a great video. This is also the one I have. Which is differ t than other ms250. Ours don’t have the built in compression valve. So how do you decompress this exact model? I can pull the ripcord with the spark plug out but as soon as I put the spark plug back in even just a hair I cannot pull the ripcord whatsoever.

I have an MS 250 that won't start. It sat for a long time but I stored it with no fuel. To be thorough I used your video to replace the carb, and I also swapped out the plug and coil. Gapped the coil with a standard business card. Inspected the fuel line and added fresh fuel then buttoned up the saw. It still won't start. Any thoughts as to why?

Stihl means, Sthil wont start, Stihl wont run and Stihl Junk. Im done with Stihl.

I had one of these saws. I spent more time fixing it than using it. When it started and ran, it was great. But it usually would not start. These 250 saws are famous for being extremely difficult to pull over. Stihl had an EZ start rewind starter because of this, mine did not have that option. I went through every last piece of that saw - rings, crank seals, fuel hoses, impulse line, bar oiler, carbs, coils, plugs, never been so focused on getting a saw engine perfect. Everything checked out as perfect, genuine OEM parts, etc, etc. And it still would not start most of the time. Leaked bar oil, wouldn't oil the chain. Spent a small fortune on it.
Happy day when I sold it. Never had any of these issues with my Echo's. That's all I use now.
