I'm a life long motorcyclist and I didn't know a quarter of what Bret teaches us. He is a godsend to  the community.

I’d love to see someone make a sort of questionnaire that asks about your preferences and priorities and then recommends a handful of tires.

I usually bias toward dirt performance. Can always dial it back on the road some, but can’t force better dirt performance out of road bias treads.

Excellent presentation 👏

Interesting topic : Mismatched tires. A 50/50 in front and a 70/30 on the rear.
Awesome video of course, every word is gold.

My #1 criterion is good side knobs.
Most tires will perform well enough in most situations (except maybe mud and wet grass).
But when I need to get out of a rut, change lanes, or ride on a slope, I really appreciate well-defined side knobs.
That's the main reason for me to reject the Dunlop Mission tires and similar.

Totally agree with all of this. The Conti TKC 70 Rocks is a prime example of amazing bite. Lots of leading edges! Nice work Sir, nice work.

You helped me choose my boots, now I'm back for choosing the best tire to use on my T7 (obviously considering my use). Currently running the Anakee Adventure (came stock on the 26 brazilian make/model). (gone for the Tech 7 enduro btw, totally satisfied!)

One problem with all these methods: when you can buy tyres only online and don't have a single brick-and-mortar shop in your whole country with all this selection on display, you cannot measure anything and brands don't give you almost any measurements. Thread depth? Contact to gap ratio? Nah. You have a picture of the size of a post stamp and marketing slop.

Thank you for the knowledge and effort Bret!

I LOVE a good tire conversion, nicely done sir

Wow, Bret, thank you so much for these past two videos. I couldn't figure out why the tires on my bike were so squirrely on gravel roads. They look kinda' chunky, but when I look at them now they are no better than an 80/20, maybe 85/15. But handle great on the street and live forever. I was glued to the monitor on this video and wished it were twice as long. Thank you again! My eyes are wide open!

I really appreciate Bret's videos on every topic - I always learn something new (or get a great reminder of something I need to focus on!).   I'm running Mitas EO7 Enduro Trail Plus tires front and rear on my Honda NX500, and so far they seem to a perfect mix of good grip and handling on the road and plenty of bite and traction offroad here in southern Arizona.

Very Informative!  When I first got into ADV  10 years ago . I Had visions of gnarly trails and top of Mountain views. I didn’t consider at the time the nearest dirt road was 40 miles away and the nearest mountain is 150 miles away. Those TKC80’s didn’t last very long riding 80 miles of asphalt to ride a 10 mile dirt road.  Took a few years and $$$ before I  found the sweet spot with MOtoz Tractionator GPS .  Not very good  in mud  but serviceable in every other environment. They have been  especially good for touring ,  I got 16k miles out of the last rear tire.

Great presentation! Those MotoZ RallZ and Adventure tires are formidable - great grip and remarkable mileage too. Another thing I really like about them is the smooth way they lose and regain traction. Kind of like a clutch with a wide and predictable friction zone - very little "snapping" sideways then snapping back underneath the rider - just a smooth release and return of traction. I am not riding them right now, but I'll probably return.

I did use your 'help me pick the right bike' tool and was pleased it agreed with my choices!

The E07 is a great tyre, I have seen them self clearing in mud when the wheel is spinning, Also by the time the tyre wears down to where the center strip is in contact you know you have around 4000km left to get you home after a long trip. So glad that Mitas brought back the EO7 after a few years.

Would love to see more on mixing different front and rears.

After many years, on all terrains and many tyres  - I fully understanding the compromise of ADV setups. For both my KTM690 and new Duke DesertX - Rally - I run the TKC80 front, and Mitas E07 rear (the same you show). The TKC is sticky enough on the road, easily stable at 160Kph and fast canyon corners,  and wear is ok yet can deal with ADV conditions well. The E07 has surprised me for being able to work in everything and is generally now the only rear for me. You mentioned it's hook up rate and I 100% agree it's better than you would expect. Years ago On a trail ride, I managed to get through 2 sections, that normally wreck your day...uphill wet grass, uphill slippery clay. I rode around MX bikes who counldn't even get going on the clay and the wet/mud grass as well. Sure, I let the tyre pressure down and managing a lot of throttle control - but I thought - wow. I then used for the USA- TAT and it suprised me how well it got me through Snow. My belief is that any tyre 'will' work on the road, regardless of how bald, flat it is - yet not every tyre will work off road - thereby the decision for ADV riding is always the choose for the offroad - otherwise buy a road bike

I love your informative, conversational videos. I have to get down to Virginia to take one of your classes. I used to live about an hour from your HQ in West Virginia.

But want to toss in another variable in tire selection? Believe it or not, appearance. Myself and others love the looks of big nobbys on an adventure bike. I have a Motoz DualVenture on the front and a Tractionater Adventure on the rear of my tubeless wheel set of my Royal Enfield Himalayan 450. Though I plan to use my tubed set for more road riding, I'm going to try a set of Shinko 805/805s figuring they should last longer on pavement and are also a bargain. We'll see. Thanks again for your passion and dedication.
