EJAE holds double degrees in Music and Psychology. She took up Psychology so she could become a therapist for kpop idols and trainees after her music career ended.

During her studies, she still felt really down whenever she thinks about how she got dropped by SM after 12 years of diligent training. She felt really bad for the 11 y/o AJAE who gave her all but got nothing in return. To cope with all the negative emotions, she would imagine an EJAE in another universe who debuted and became a successful idol.

EJAE used the same coping method after her "healthy" break up with Sam. They decided to break up temporarily to see how they would fare without each other. It was a test of sorts to see if they were ready to take the relationship to the next level. EJAE felt far more down than she expected. And though they agreed to get back together later, EJAE couldn't help fearing that the breakup might become permanent. She coped by imagining an EJAE in another universe who was living happily with Sam. She wrote In Another World while immersed in that sorrow and dread. In case you're wondering, yes, EJAE and Sam got back together and are planning to get married in fall of next year.

In Another World was written almost 3 years ago, just added to the pile of songs EJAE was waiting to sell. But her manager, Nick, pestered her into releasing a single while Golden was still in peak popularity. EJAE still lacked trust in her singing despite the massive success of Golden, so Nick had to work hard in reinforcing her confidence. And so, EJAE took In Another World out of the pile, adapted it to suit her own vocals, and released it as her first single.

EJae's voice is just amazing! 🤩 The undertone of rasp in her voice is so pleasant to her, and with her low range, which is the reason why kpop  rejected her back then, it is  SO good to see she found the time and place where this type of voice is appreciated now! In a way, we are ready for her! It is great to see a major reactor who appreciates her vocal prowess!🔥 ❤Subscribed.

A perfect storm has been brewing to catapult this hidden gem named EJAE for all to see just at the right time. Her life story and the recent transition from a relative obscurity to multiple Grammy nominations is truly inspiring! So easy to root for her!

8:46 wow… I’ve listened to this a lot. NEVER picked up on the piano pedal release ❤

you should have finished the video until the end....

You missed the end of the video.

EJAE no longer hiding her beautiful and unique voice from the world: "No more hiding, I'll be shining like I'm born to be!"

Tara, thank you, thank you, thank you.
I've watched a lot of reaction/analysis videos to this track.
You're the only one who has mentioned how very beautiful this song is from the beginning.
Also, I like how you acknowledged that the timing of the release was possibly/probably much more fortuitous than if it was released when originally recorded.
EJAE embodies talent, affability, and humility which is rare when someone reaches such global admiration.
I wish her all the success she desires.
I always appreciate your insights.
Thank you.

Yesssss ive been suggesting this of every reactor !   You were first.

Thank you for the analysis!! Been waiting for this one🥰 and it was amazing to hear you speak about it!

Also the irony of this: she said it’s also about just in general, maybe in another world , she would be more with family. And maybe in another world she would be an kpop idol. Maybe in another world she would be killing it at a singer (she said these herself)
But the irony is: she said it all worked out actually in the end 🥰🤣
The man she wrote the song about, is now her fiancé (they had a healthy break she said and that’s when she wrote this) AND she is kind of a singer now! So it all worked out in the end!

EJAE joined SM Entertainment at the age of 11. After ten years as a trainee, her contract was terminated without a debut opportunity, with the explanation that she was too old and her voice was too dark and raspy. She then went to the USA and studied songwriting and psychology. Subsequently, she became a sought-after songwriter for K-Pop (Twice, Red Velvet, BlackPink, etc.). Her first hit was "Psycho," written for Red Velvet. She released her debut single, "EJAE - In Another World," two weeks ago. She's so good!

I always relate to ejae so much ma'am because I too never get a chance been given the chance but still rejected

The color of her voice is just gorgeous and she really is a great song writer 😊

The fact that she was rejected once to be a K pop idol is sad but with this song she proved those people wrong with this song you are an amazing singer Ejae and an amazing producer and. Also great job on the Oscar!!!❤️❤️❤️

이재의 신곡을 리뷰해주셔서 감사합니다

You missed the last scene of her video

2nd viewer! I've listened to this song 100 times, so good! Love your analysis' on these artists Tara!

awesome analysis and reaction. thank you for pointing out the blowing of candle and pedal release. Love Queen Ejae ❤❤❤ from Philippines

I love how everything played out though. That's interesting that this song was shelved for 2 years before Kpop Demon Hunters. Her fans should know this... Ejae was a trainee for a K-pop company for over a decade, I think 15 years. She never got the part because they were picking her out, saying she didn't have the look they were going for, or that she was getting too old. That's when she left and switched to writing songs for other K-pop stars. It's so amazing now to see her explode. She is a very talented person. Personally, I think this song was written about her life in the K-pop industry. "Maybe in another world," she would've been a K-pop star. "Maybe in another world," she would've accomplished what she wanted earlier. "Maybe in another world," all her tears wouldn't have been shed. "Maybe in another world," the little pianist didn't have to suffer so much to become a star.

To Ejae: Your talent was not meant to be contained in one culture. What you suffered for years, we could never imagine, and I am sorry for all your tears. But you were meant for the whole world, Ejae. You are the one who sealed the Honmoon in reality. You brought so many different people together. We love you!!!
