DLC Boss Ranking coming in a few weeks. I just needed the break because Nioh 2 really took a lot of effort to roll credits. I can see a fantastic game with an intense and expressive combat style, and it plays much better than Nioh 1. But again, I understand why people would say "Nioh isn't a soulslike" because it leans so much more into character action + the mission structure system that really isn't my cup of tea.

I did enjoy my time, I had a blast with my freak of nature Hide, and I do look forward to playing the DLC. I hear Nioh 3 is open-map as opposed to mission based, which might be more my thing?

Nioh 2 became one of my favorite "soulslikes" and in general favorite games ever after finishing it and the DLC, even if I didn't fully grasp the combat. I could just understand the combat enough to enter a flow state in so many fights, each one making me feel like I've done the coolest things ever when I defeat a boss with even a slight bit of skill, and also I story I did enjoy a good amount.
I'll also say that I was able to enjoy the DLC way more than the first since its not scaled for NG+, which meant I could actually play it without wanting to rip my nails off, which allowed me to appreciate the bosses and dlc in general way more.

Finishing the diva ranking video and finding another new video from just 12 minutes ago? Count me in, another masterpiece is about to be witnessed

Can't believe you ranked Yokai Aquaman beneath Lady Osakabe. Sure Koroku is easier, but frankly I'd rather an easy fight then having to dodge projectiles I literately cannot see coming. Anytime I fight the eyeball house lady, I am constantly pelted with off-screen projectiles that also waste my ki making it harder to dodge or even attack the thing I'm suppose to be fighting. Her dark world is outright hell cause all of the eyes become active and the camera can only ever focus on 1 of them. I never got to the Hydra in Nioh. But this rehash is a nerfed version, I don't think I ever want to face the Hydra.

Hey billy, a new metroidvania with a few souls elements dropped a few days ago called Well Dweller. So far I'm loving it, it has a really nice art style and fun combat, and i think you'd like it!

I’ve played Nioh 2 for about 50 hours with what seems like no end in sight. I had to put it down. Great game, but god damn is it exhausting.

Awesome video. Nioh 2 is one of my favourite soulslike games. Fun fact for my first playthrough, Defeated Otokemaru first try. Subsequence playthroughs constantly struggled, and that on standard new game playthroughs. Go figure.

Fun fact: the bosses change their movesets once you get to Dream of the Demon (NG+2) some are small changes like new bursts to YatsuNoKami, removal of bursts like Naotakas long ice sword combo becoming a normal attack, or just straight up new moves and combos! Of course getting there takes a while but its a fun mixup to keep the combat fresh so deep in the game and imo it amplifies some bosses quite a bit

Sweet video! I think Nioh 2 and Khazan have the best souls-like combat systems in gaming

What i like about nioh is that it doesnt have bad bosses not even boring their all kick ass

I'm pleased to report that they did finally get the memo, and pretty much dispensed with giant bosses in Nioh 3. There are some big ones, but they're still more at the scale of something like Katsuie or Yatsu-no-kami than Gyuki or Orochi.

Daidara shows up again in 3 but as a stage hazard, rather than a boss.

I did NOT expect number 3 at all.

Are you also gonna rank the Nioh 1 DLC bosses?

Just a little fun fact: Black teeth were not a sign of bad dental hygiene but a deliberate cosmetic choice in medieval Japan. Those teeth were dyed, not rotten.

As far as boar-themed bosses that love to charge at you go, Katsuie is light years above Fucking Commander Gaius. Plus he's one of my historical blorbos.

1. How odd - I just finished Nioh 2 myself for the first time a couple of days ago, using a switchglaive magic build...what are the chances??

2. We fight Mezuki in Nioh 1....? Eh? Genuinely, when did that happen?

3. British homosexual narrator saying "I love birds" - lore revelation for this channel!

now rank the bosses on ng+5 :face-blue-smiling: (all bosses gain new attacks/lose burst properties/gain new burst properties)

I have to disagree with you about the large bosses.  In my experience Nioh's mechanics work just fine for them, you just need to learn how the game wants you to fight them. Gyuki, for example, I have learned to fight quite reliably head on which you stated was a death sentence. It's just that not every attack is meant to be dodged in the same way as Dark Souls would ask you to do.
