Luke Beechler | Part 1: crash scene + first jail interview

Shortly after 1:00 a.m., Burnett County Dispatch received a call from a driver saying he had just struck a pedestrian near County Highway FF and Perida Road in the Town of Lincoln, by Sweeney’s. Deputies, EMS, and fire were sent to the scene.

The pedestrian was treated on scene and airlifted to a Twin Cities hospital. Public reports later said the person suffered life-threatening injuries and was trapped beneath the vehicle. We are not naming the pedestrian.

The driver was identified as Luke Beechler, 37, of Webster. He was arrested that night for causing injury by intoxicated use of a vehicle. Felony OWI / injury charges were later filed. In June 2026 he entered a plea to an amended misdemeanor OWI 2nd.
