I recently found something interesting, in 1995 former New Japan wrestler George Takano started a small promotion called Fighting Spirit wRestling (that capitalization is deliberate, as it was known as FSR or FSwR for short to apparently avoid confusion with FMW) after he left after he left Pro Wrestling Crusaders. During its rather short existence of 2 years, it held legit shoot-style tournaments for amateur fighters with 90 second rounds (for a total of 5 rounds with 30 second breaks, i think). Now being the owner of the promotion, Takano himself also wrestled, but usually with other veteran wrestlers, but on one of the last shows, he actually faced one of the amateur fighters in the shoot style ruleset, who by what I could find was a high school teacher with a hobby of fighting in the amateur circuit, and Takano lost by decision which apparently caused Takano and the promotion to lose any credibility it had (though honestly, Takano was already past his prime, out of shape, inexperienced with real combat sports and his promotion was too small to survive anyway in my opinion). Anyway the video of that match is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pixMOQYNO8E and the channel is apparently that of the amateur fighter's himself and it has other videos of his fights in the FSR as well as amateur Shooto, RINGS, and something called IFT (which i can't find anything on).
