In this video, we travel across the Seto Ohashi to Kagawa, take the ferry from Takamatsu to Shodoshima, explore the island by car, and finish the day back in Takamatsu.
🚢 HOW TO GET TO SHODOSHIMA
Shodoshima has no bridge connecting it to the mainland, so the final part of the journey is always by ferry.
From Takamatsu:
Takamatsu Port → Tonosho Port or Ikeda Port
Ferry: approximately 60 minutes. Cars can also be taken on the ferry.
From Okayama:
New Okayama Port → Tonosho Port
Ferry: approximately 70 minutes.
From Uno:
Uno Port → Tonosho Port via Teshima
Ferry services are also available for passengers and vehicles.
From Himeji:
Himeji Port → Fukuda Port
Ferry: approximately 100 minutes.
From Kobe:
Kobe → Sakate Port by Jumbo Ferry.
🚗 BY CAR
If you are driving from Honshu, one option is to cross the Seto Ohashi into Kagawa and continue to Takamatsu Port, then take your car onto the ferry to Shodoshima.
This is the route we used in the video.
Having a car on Shodoshima is very convenient because the attractions are spread across the island. For example, Tonosho Port → Angel Road is about 5 minutes by car, while Twenty-Four Eyes Movie Village is about 55 minutes from Tonosho Port.
🚌 WITHOUT A CAR
Shodoshima Olive Bus operates the island’s regular public bus network. A one-day unlimited pass is also available, and IC transit cards can be used. Check the current timetable before traveling, as schedules were revised in April 2026.
Angel Road is about 10 minutes by bus from Tonosho Port.
There is also a sightseeing bus departing from Tonosho Port that visits several major attractions, including Twenty-Four Eyes Movie Village and Shodoshima Olive Park.
