It wasn't just our soldiers who stood up for the black American soldiers, British civilians stood up for them as well, Black Americans were treated as equal, the way it should be!

The Black soldiers were in the UK to build barracks and air bases, ready for American soldiers and airmen.  After the White troops arrived, an old man in Bamber Bridge was asked by a reporter what he thought of the Americans.  He replied, "Oh, I like them!  They're well behaved and considerate, and very polite!  But I'm not very keen on the White ones that are arriving".

American generals tried to tell black american soldiers not to drink in bars and get out . British soldiers told them to stay and told american generals to fuck off.

My ghanian grandad helped stop riots from breaking out in the camps in the RAF

There are other videos on YT about the bamber bridge incident that explain it a bit better than this one, you should look them up 👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

The British were the first to abolish the black slave trade, the British also forced the rest of the world to abolish the black slave trade, so we British not only will not be told how to behave in our own country, we will absolutely not engage in any type of rasist segregation when British men died protecting and defending those men women and children who were being traded in slave ports in Africa.

The American army said the Brits must impose segregation ,?
So the three pubs put up signs !
"  Black troops only. " !
Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaww. !

I love you both, great video xx

Yoou might find George Formby's tour of South Africa interesting. TLDR, the South African government kicked him out because he ignored the country's segregation laws.

The original video here is really very poor, and quite misleading. The lack of segregation in the UK and the effect it had on the US military is a very interesting story. It wasn't in one place, it was all across the country. As others have said, there are loads of good videos on YouTube about Bamber Bridge elsewhere on YouTube.

There's a brilliant contemporary US Army film 'Welcome to Britain' that has a section explaining the lack of segregation in Britain to newly arrived American soldiers. It's also on YouTube and it'd be a great film to react to.

He's got the story wrong. In the pub the locals and British military stood by the black military. Effectively the MP who went in hard and violently was pushed out of the establishment.

As the black soldiers walked back too barracks they were attacked by MPs and some were shot, one in the back. This created a severe conflict which due to US records doesn't accurately cover the events. There are reports that the black soldiers had armed themselves and it was a fire fight, but we simply don't know the full story. But all the black soldiers were arrested and later pardoned. But at least one died.

Sorry, pubs.

gotta agree with paulmc6940 this is the worst video on utube about bamber..

What about the black community already in Britain?

This is a REALLY bad retelling of the story. Find any of the other videos on the topic.

Sorry but these two women just talk too much instead of watching and learning, first time and my last time.on your channel bye bye

Video was rubbish. Less than half the story.
