3:12 "Your skin color scared me if it were common I would not be afraid. "  this a great example of implicit racail bias and how we can acknowledge we have this and correct it immediately. Just as shown by that lovely woman.

I'd like to point out that people are afraid of who they don't understand. When I was a child in day care, there was a little blonde haired boy from Texas who was very talkative. He terrified me, and I thought he was an alien until I realize that some people just have blonde hair and pale skin. Some people have never met others from different races and their first instinct is fear. With time, people can get used to to others.

Not all prejudice is hatred. Sometimes its just born of ignorance.

Not just being able to speak the language but tell apart the various accents is really insane in like a genius way dude... Mad props.

Your positive attitude is what attracts the people around you. Thank you for showcasing the Chinese culture 😄

As a black girl this lowk makes me happy tryna change the stereotypes wrongfuly given to us

I love how all of them are so weird and firendly at the same time XDD

Oh thank you for putting the Mandarin characters as well as their pronunciations, I’m subscribing for more content like this!

Thank you so much for adding Chinese subtitles mate. I practically do not understand anything they say even though I am learning Chinese. The subtitles help a lot. I know they must be hard to add because I doubt AI picks up everything these people are saying (so you must do it manually), but please don't ever give up on the Chinese subtitles!

Its interesting how a lot of it is just "we've never seen anyone who looks like you before" instead of the hatred you get in america and europe.

As a white guy (I'm actually very mixed race) when I visited extreme rural China I was also treated similarly. Curiosity. Most people were kind. The occasional odd statement or what might be racist, but to them it isn't necessarily racist but limited exposure or awareness. They assumed I was some celebrity, politician, or some type of person. They never or rarely saw foreigners. Many wanted pictures with me. It was a bit odd, but I played along. No biggie. They were friendly and I was experiencing a completely different place and people. I grew up and traveled the world throughout my life.. many third world.. so extreme differences I find amazing and interesting.

do you subtitle this yourself? It is such a wonderful resource for people learning mandarin, and so entertaining!

9:49 I think the chef said hui min 回民 when you told him you don’t eat pork. Hui are a mostly Muslim ethnic group in China and are strict halal. He was probably asking, “Oh, are you Hui?” or simply, “Oh, are you halal?”

tbh it makes me quite sad knowing that people have to experience this: others being intrinsically afraid of you and treating you differently just because of your skin color. i'm a light-skinned filipino-american so i've never experienced anything like this, at most i get things like "i noticed your eyes, what country are you from". i really respect your patience and openness to educate people without taking their racism personally or lashing out, it doesn't seem like it's for the faint of heart. i get annoyed having to explain to people that the philippines is part of asia and that i'm from texas, not a foreigner lmao

When I was around 5 or 6 in the UK I had a black teacher (I'm a white guy) and he always had a laugh with me, teasing etc. I thought I was teasing too when I said "well at least I don't have a burnt chocolate cake face" the look he gave me oh god, I still feel ashamed to this day 20+ years later! Kids just don't understand, and I was grateful that he explained to me why I shouldn't say things like that! 😂😂

You are the salt of the earth bro, I'm sure once people can see past skin colour, they will realise you are a wonderful human being with a big heart 😊😊☺☺

This marks the end to the trip to hegang city , I hope this video provides the insight into cost of living and life as a foreigner in this city , Thank you all for your continuous support
Like share and subscribe 🎉

Ive never seen someone be this kind and racist at the same time. Just goes to show that it doesnt always have to be pure malice because of the propaganda we are being fed but can genuinely be out of unfamiliarity

Loved the comment by the little boy "you are dark, did you not wash your face?"   I had to laugh, love kids as they will say what they think.  Love all of your videos, you fit in so well in communicating with everyone.  Continue to enjoy your journey.  Blessings from  USA Maryland.
