I work in sales and I can tell you it'll actually be easier and make people more comfortable if you tell them "it's free so LONG AS YOU LET US RECORD for our social media".

Two factors are at play: first off if they don't have a condition or 'catch' to agree to something they assume the other shoe will drop later and it's a scam. Secondly if they think you actually are getting nothing out of it but the satisfaction of helping, it becomes a social contract in their mind. Its the same effect as if you try to pass out free candy vs sell candy for $0.01. the 1 cent candy will inevitably run out first because people are happy to buy a hundred candies but would find it rude to take a hundred. One is a social contract the other is a simple transaction, people are allot more comfortable with simple transactions.

Made his property value go up.  It's amazing how much better it made his house look.

I was rentingl in California, decided to be nice to the owner/mgmt and washed the driveway, there were some stains from 1950 on there that even ez-off would not touch, after cleaning the mgmt company came back to complain I stained the driveway and would be charged for cleaning... I sent them pics of the cleaning to let them know the spots were already there, sheesh. :)

The ones who start out the most skeptical usually end up being the most enthusiastic at the end.  It's great you could convince this homeowner to let you do his driveway.  His reaction makes it worth it.
