LETS FUCKING GOOOOO MY PERSONAL FAVORITE GREEN DAY ALBUM 🔥🔥🔥🔥

Lyrically, this is one of their best albums. It's full of contradictions. Also, this album was written at a time where Green Day had become one of the hottest bands of the year when they blew up in 1994 after Dookie. They became unbelievably huge and fast. While they were getting a lot of love, some people were tearing them apart because they "sold out". In the underground punk community, signing to a major label AND making a shit load of money was extremely frowned upon, especially in the eastbay SoCal area where Green Day were coming up as an independent band. They dealt with so much slander from them in 1993 and 1994. Insomniac (1995) was the chemical reaction to all that. They were tired, pissed off, and had just become new fathers coping with the surge in fame, media attention, and the demanding touring schedule. You can absolutely feel that tension throughout the album. They ended the European leg of the Insomniac tour in 1996 early because of exhaustion of touring their asses off. They later released Nimrod in October 1997.

My heart broke when you said Panic Song would be crazy live. They never play it because that bass intro is MURDER

This album was the burst of tension the band needed after selling millions of records out of nowhere.

the "sampling green day" was from Good Riddance Time of Your Life, where he starts it, fucks up and says "fuck" and starts again.

kerplunk is pretty underrated imo
ALSO pls do london calling by the clash at some point ive been BEGGING for ts unc

Next on your Punk journey could be Rancid with "...and out come the wolves". They mix it up a bit with ska-like beats and rougher vocals. That album has some of the most addictive baslines and hooks you will hear in the genre.

I was waiting for '21st Century Breakdown,' but 'Insomniac' is a classic too. hope you enjoyed it, Unc!

Best album by them. Meth is hell of a drug

Green Day is my favourite band, and this is my favourite album by them by far. The drum intro to Armatage Shanks and the guitar riff to Brain Stew activate something in me, I drop what I'm doing, sing along and don't resume until the song (or album) finishes.
I love seeing people get introduced to the things I love! 👍

One of my favorite albums..

i love how hes connecting musical dots in his head this entire time. Such a fun watch!

the buildup to panic song is what it feels like to have a panic attack

I am so glad you picked Insomniac
Their hardest most aggressive album and it’s so fun!!!
You got it man

Enema of the State by blink-182 is a must. If you like pop punk at all, this is the album that perfected it.

Every time I listen to this album, it brings me back to my childhood back in the 90s sitting by my boombox or walking around with my discman.

Unc, "Westbound Sign" the 12th song, appeared at the Cars 2005 teaser trailer, search for it, it appears at minute 1

28:15 that sounds like the beginning of "Good Riddance" by Green Day
