To clarify cause some people are confused, the event organizer officially licensed the Barbie logo and branding for the event but Mattel had no hand in planning the event. However, Mattel /is/ at fault for just taking the licensing fee without doing their due diligence to make sure this organizer can be trusted with their brand.

Barbara Millicent Robert’s would never allow such horrific decor

@Allison_Troy 5 months ago

It was a licensed event. So Mattel didn't put this on, the event company licensed it. The failure on Mattel's part was just accepting the licensing fee without any research or someone on-site to verify Mattel standards are met. Mattel has long licensed it's various properties like this. This is the first time there has been this big of a failure.

why does the shape of the house display look like the way a small child draws houses 😭 that’s not barbie’s dream house it’s barbie’s log cabin

I really hope this is the end of the line for Mischief Management. I am still upset at how many authors took a financial hit from Romance Con, and yeah they've profited off of a lot of people just looking for community and that's gross.

Y'all, they could've gotten some local high school theater kids to build and paint a better Barbie Dream House set than that.

"I know you guys hate it when I hold this mic" people care about that? I've literally never cared about that I think the little bedazzled traveling mic is cute

I just wanna add, A sunglasses company sent down a whole bunch of sunglasses to sell there and their booth was given to another vendor and all of the sunglasses they sent are missing. And there’s been speculation in the comments section that the company could’ve stolen them.

The bad event disease is spreading to official places, for shame. But seriously, it looks like they had a ten dollar budget and used $3.

Barbie’s very own DashCon! Not on my bingo card lololol

Crazy thing is, I went to see the Cinci Museum Center collection for Barbie last year and they had a life size set of the original dream house that we could do photos in. They also had the pink corvette that kids could sit in for photos. The main thing for that collection was all the barbies throughout the years with a bunch of original barbies. All the original outfits from the 60s were there as well. To get in was only $20 and I think kids were free.

That light and floor combo makes it look like I'm being interrogated at a CIA black site

@walliam5506 5 months ago

14:23 the housing market hit Barbie and now her dream house is just having a house at all 😭😭😭

@madz2013 5 months ago

Dash Con, Fyre Fest, TanaCon, the Willy Wonka Experience, that Bridgerton ball in Detroit, that one author convention, now this. You'd think they'd learn by now.

So glad you covered this! As a doll collector, Mattel has had awful quality control and steeply falling quality for years now, so it sadly doesn’t surprise me that they licensed this to an event company that seems very incompetent. Isn’t Mischief Management the one that did the Million Lives book festival that sucked?

@elinewww 5 months ago

Literally said "oh no" out loud when you mentioned it was done by mischief management lmao. I guess pulling scammy nonsense also gets your name known

@mx_frogman 5 months ago

they couldve played on the fact that barbie has had literally every job so they couldve done maybe like a dress up photoshoot thing or whatever

@miguelcruz2941 5 months ago

As a doll collector seeing how everybody outside of the hobby has been reacting to this is interesting. Cause everybody inside the hobby has known Mattel as cheap and greedy as hell for years lmao.

"I'm not saying I'm a professional but it is my job and I am getting paid" 😂 🤷

@alliigaytor 5 months ago

For $150 I'd better be getting free snacks, a gift bag, access to all activities (no way you have to pay extra for those. What the hell is the entrance fee for??) And a full photo op set with like one professional picture from a photographer.

Legit, what is the entrance fee for if you still have to pay for the movies and stuff
