I also find it interesting how the characters do not comment on each other's clothes. Araki depicts a world where people are not judged for what they wear, even when they break gender stereotypes.

Can't forget the first asexual character - Ultimate Life Form Kars for whom: "Sex is useless, a perfect lifeform needs no descendants"

6:10 I love Araki just going "dawg the gay dudes in Italy wear the craziest shit, I couldn't believe how cool they looked"

“Sociologist and yaoi manga expert” is one hell of a title, I think I’ve found my calling.

Also araki takes heavy inspiration during the peak of rock music, which was the most heavily androgynous/feminine masculine in outfits.
The rocker outfits of 80s were often glammed up with long hair, makeup and several traditionally feminine designs.

Saying a character "never got married" in alot of victorian writing was code for "he was gay but we aren't going to say it" and that is also the narrators last comment on Speedwagon

I would describe the series as flamboyant masculinity, jojos isn’t afraid to have men act feminine, or be shown in homoerotic ways, and I don’t mind that, araki has a way of having each of his panels be a work of art in their own right

Araki never scare to tackle sensitive topics, like that time JoJo part 2 and part 6 where racism are explicitly feature in the storyline.

Dio transcending the concept of gender goes ultra hard tbh

Bruh, denying JoJo has lgbt themes is like wanting to extinguish a big fire with a cup of water

As of recently,  my goat Usagi is now confirmed bisexual

DIO's nonbinary, bisexual AND British? He may be the ultimate being but he needs to pick a struggle.

Something I really appreciate about JoJo's representation is how natural it is. It isn't used make an entire character's identity to center around, it's simply part of them. It doesn't intrude on the plot or anything, nor is it pushed to the back burner, or presented as good or bad, it's just is. There will always be a place for stories where a character's identity or preference are crucial to the story and character, but I like JoJo's way of handling LGBTQ+ themes, simply letting people be people.

I love how everytime i learn more about araki, the more based he gets and the more i appreciate jojo.

What makes JoJo's evermore gay is that you, the viewer, are watching it

I always found it strange how people denied the eroticism of jojo's, sure it doesn't directly discuss gender identity but it's very homoerotic and positive about sexual expression.

So I really appreciate you addressing the topic as one of the more serious jjba channels .

One thing I'll add is the nameless trans man being incarcerated in the woman's prison in part 6. I even like the fact that it's explicitly non plot related, it really makes it feel like Araki wanted to shine the light on this kind of situation, even if only for a brief moment. Shame it was cut from the anime tho

my headcanon for Anasui is that he's just a feminine guy normally, but used Diver Down to appear like a woman to get into the women's side of the prison and follow jolyne

Also something new that came out recently: there was some backstory for Usagi where he expresses romantic interest in a male classmate and his mom tries to send him to conversion camp as a result
