The actor that plays the Red Sox owner is so good in this scene

The character of Pete was so underrated and masterfully underplayed by Jonah Hill. The amount of maturity and the emotional astuteness of this kid, who seems to be almost on the spectrum, was really beautifully and subtly brought to life. Great performance and great direction.

Not even a tiny bit fond of baseball, and this made me cry.

I really hope that was a real thing that really happened, because the sight of all those guys on the opposing team cheering that man on might just be the most heartwarming thing I have seen in years.

Scenes like this in movies and tv they almost NEVER say the amount offered out loud, its always written on a piece of paper

They should've offered pete the money, it was his algorithm.

this is quite the film... not your usual sports movie... no dopey cliches... zero to hero nonsense... etc. etc. this is a proper film... beautifully written, cast, & acted... bravo to everyone involved... A MASTERPIECE.

People say the metaphor is obvious and that "He hit a homerun and didn't realize it" applies to Billy as well, but i think it's deeper than that. It also is telling you, don't let your fear of failure let you lose sight of your success. This was an amazing scene.

One of the great GM what ifs of all time. Had Billy Beane accepted the Red Sox offer, would they have broken the Curse of the Bambino, winning the World Series in 2004? (later in 2007, 2013, and 2018 also).

It's well written dialogue. The intro with the scarf... he's a man who only sees the big picture. A man who thinks strategy, not tactics.

Brad Pitt manages MLB teams on the side, if you didn't know

The idea of analytics worked out well until teams with money (Boston) started doing it as well. Now the Dodgers are the masters of it

Aliss Howard is excellent as the Red Sox owner..!! Hashtag Private Cowboy

Jonah Hill does not get the credit he deserves when he plays serious roles. Moneyball, War Dogs and Wolf of Wall Street are easily his best roles and I hope he continues to want to do more serious work, because he's a phenomenal actor in my opinion.

Maybe the real metaphor was the moneyball we made along the way

The title of this video is hilarious. It’s implying that this isn’t even a movie and out of nowhere the Redsox offered one of the most famous actors in the world a GM position.
