This is the behind the scenes contained in the remastered DVD of "The Shining" (1980). Interesting to see Stanley Kubrich involved in every part of the film making process.

Jack Nicholson proving my theory that he’s never acting he’s just being Jack Nicholson.

RIP Shelley Duvall, as talented and sensitive as she was misunderstood.

Jack Nicholson’s toothbrushing technique is crazier than anything in The Shining 💀🪚

When you think about it, she has the hardest role, the least comfortable and fun. Nicholson gets to be the force and power cracking down the door. She has to be terrified and in touch with her fear throughout a lot of the movie. On top of that she's going through real emotional pain in her personal life and the director is extra hard on her. She's definitely the main star in my book.
There's an energy to all of this that I just don't see nowadays. I wish I could harness it and bring it here. I don't believe people really care about cinema in the same way anymore.

Stanley Kubrick casually getting an idea for one of the most epic camera angles in the whole movie, lol.

There will never be another Stanley Kubrick. The guy was a true visionary.
The body of work he left behind displays a perfection and passion so unique,
the art of filmmaking will forever be synonymous with his name.
Rest In Peace, Stanley🕯 ,,.,and thank you.

The fact we’re able to watch, in good quality, a moment of discovery of where to place the camera from such an amazing project is so beautiful to me

5:07 There's nothing more English than calmly ducking out of the way of Jack Nicholson's swinging axe while getting on with the job at hand!
