Bill Bixby was an insanely good actor. The way he explains his situation to Dr. Pratt here in this scene is exceptional.

Bill Bixby was such an incredible actor, man. I miss him.

I actually like the way Banner describes his "mutation" here.  It sets him apart from the comic book version.

Growing up as a kid, I think many of us felt a connection to David Banner's anger and frustration...Bill Bixby really played the role so well that even I believed he was an actual scientist...good ole days of tv

Bill Bixby added so many layers to the flawed character of David Banner, what a fantastic actor

"Of course! Doctor Daavid BANNER!?"

The way he says it still gives me chills. David never let anybody know who he was for most of his life after what he did to himself, so hearing this is so chilling/cool/exciting, all at the same time.

Bill Bixby is the ONE man who deserves the credit for making Banner believeable and far more competent then he was portrayed in the books....for yrs

I really like this scene.  Phillip Sterling comes across as a warm, compassionate scientist.  And Bill Bixby was Bill Bixby.  He was in a class all his own

Pratt: "That's INCREDIBLE, almost IMMORTAL..." Decades later we would have The Immortal Hulk comics. Prophetic, wouldn't you say?  I grew up watching this, and I always identified with both Banner and Hulk. I was mercilessly bullied as a child in school, and because of this I was always angry, frustrated, nervous, afraid. There were times in school when bullies attacked me, I would try to fight back. From grade school to early  high school, I was always in a quiet rage, boiling deep inside. Almost anything could set me off. Then at age 14, my dad took me to a friend of his who had extensively studied transcendental meditation in India. Over the course of a year,  he taught me how to calm myself, how to bury all that rage. It also helped my school work improve. So growing up, Hulk was the only fictional character with which I felt a sort of kindred spirit, and the combined acting of Lou Ferrigno and the late Bill Bixby as Hulk/Banner is my favorite version. Bixby passed away from cancer in 1993 when I was 21, so I never got the chance to thank him for essentially portraying a version of myself on-screen. I must one day thank Mr. Ferrigno as well, for giving me the image of my tortured childhood rage to focus on. When I was learning meditation, my teacher once asked me to try and describe my rage in picture form. Almost immediately, I told him then that my ideal image for that rage was Lou Ferrigno's Hulk and Bill Bixby's David Banner was my calm yet nervous version. I remember my teacher smiled and said that yes, he loved that show as well, and so did his children (who happened to be two of my grade school friends). He said that I had picked the perfect image.

I remembered watching this as a kid. I loved it when Bill Bixby talks about medical terminology.  He sounded liked a real scientist.

RIP Bill Bixby

This was the first time since it happened that he could actually “talk shop” about it,with someone that understood him

There’s only one David Banner/Incredible Hulk duo for me and that’s Bill Bixby and Lou Ferrigno.

i was 8 years old when this aired.  i remember sobbing uncontrollably when the hulk died.

Can't believe it has been ~35 years since this first aired!!

Such a great show and one of my favorite childhood heroes. The ending was so sad. They just don't make shows like this any more. One of the true greats of the 70's and 80's.

R.I.P Philip Sterling and Bill Bixby you will always be remembered in this show The Incredible Hulk.

It's fantastic movie!

Yes David explained his metamorphosis to Dr.Pratt scientifically well

This is a fantastic scene on several levels. The Bixby/Ferrigno duo is still to this day the greatest and definitive interpretation of a live action Incredible Hulk.
