I have a friend from college who LOVES Gargoyles; saw the first 2 seasons on Disney+ and agree it’s as good as people say

Gargoyles canon continues in the comics

To grasp how peak Gargoyles became in just 2 years, it spawned its own dedicated fan convention, The Gathering of the Gargoyles, that ran for a decade after the show ended. Not a local thing either - LA, Vegas, Orlando, Virginia Beach, Montreal.

In the 1990s, that kind of single-franchise con scene was something we only associated with Star Trek.

I watched Gargoyles and Batman: TAS. They were both mature and had such great stories. These shows were a big part of my childhood.

Gargoyles was practically a way for people to watch Star Trek: The Next Generation after the actual Next Gen wrapped up production and shifted focus to the TNG era movies considering the large majority of the voice cast all were the series regulars for Star Trek.

How the Power Rangers DESTROYED this show. The Rangers never kill, they just destroy

“Broader audience” those two words explain it all

I just rewatched Gargoyles. And I’d love to see the Rugrats vid.

Season 3 was written by the same team that did X-Men.  You can see it all through the writing and the focus on discrimination against the Gargoyles.

Greg was forced out, yes, but it isn't fair to say the new writers were inexperienced and didn't pay attention to canon.  They absolutely did.  In particular, the Tatanya episode is actually very good.  The episode with Hudson losing his sight was another good one.  Both of these focus on past events.  While I absolutely hate the episode, the one with the New Olympians is just more continuity.

Another thing you really should have brought up is how Greg continued the continuity of Gargoyles in his comic book series, which he fought tooth and nail to get the license to.  It's a small miracle that he was able to produce it at all, given how draconian Disney is.  In this comic, we can see the direction he wanted to take the series next, and it's a really good read.

I didn't realize how much Greg Wiseman influenced play childhood.

I loved Power Rangers growing up, but I got over it. R.I.P. yellow ranger

I loved Gargoyles so much. It really was deep. I loved the lore, characters, development and world building.

The best thing about Gargoyles is that it drew from all of European folklore to depict the magical world it came from. It was a true encyclopedia of gods, monsters, and magical creatures.

I usually don’t say this but this is the kind of show you give a new season to years later. Ones screwed over by the network in their day and age but are still popular with those who remember the original.

I remember spending the night at my grandfather's house during the weekends and secretly staying up until 2am to watch reruns of this show on Disney XD.
It quickly became one of my favorite shows thanks to episodes like City of Stone, Metamorphosis, Eye of the Beholder and Deadly Force.

You should do a video on the Gargoyles comics by Weissman that he did that are canon and take the place of the Goliath Chronicles

There is a DreamWorks Animation show called Invasion America that lasted only one season, which would make an interesting video

I think the closest we ever got to the DAU was that some stylistic choices were carried over from Gargoyles into other Disney films and shows. One example is Hunchback of Notre Dame, Captain Phoebus looks like he stepped straight out of an episode of Gargoyles (particularly with that facial hair)

Oh man, I loved this show as a child. Especially the first season. Even my mom and dad loved this show and my mom wasn't the type to like watching cartoons very much. I remember my mom talking about how damn good it was for a cartoon. My mom would look forward to new episodes, I couldn't believe it.

Gargoyles along with Spectacular Spider-Man and Young Justice, was Greg Wiseman's holy trinity!

I had the gargoyle's boardgame. It came with a VHS full of random episodes. At the end, for about 40 minutes, it would play ambient music and sounds with the gargoyle's city background. Events would pop up, obviously prerecorded, to happen while you played the boardgame.
