Yeah, in USA the firefighters and paramedics are part of the same first responder unit. Which means that they have firefighters who have also trained to be paramedics.

The running joke with Adenosine is that it doesn't lower the patients heart rate, it just redistributes it to everyone else in the room.

As for the guy who had the car fall on his chest: What they didn't mention is it was half a second because his friend panicked, lifted up the car with one hand and pulled him out with the other. Guy also got to join the ride because he had injured himself doing that, he just didn't notice because of adrenaline. Hysterical strenght, folks, it's serious shit.

"I'm ok with forever" Relatable

1:11 You can't factory reset a human, unless of course you believe in reincarnation.

so the true story of the guy who had the car fall on him is that the buddy was actually like a 6'+ 300+ pounds GIGANTOR who lifted the car with one hand and pulled his buddy out from under the car with the other.

also for adenosine it has  90% success rate (according to him) and that other 10% they have to proceed to cpr after which they are fine

A few answers to your questions as a nurse:
- Don't worry, 90% of the time Adenosine work's 100% of the time. 😂 If their heart stops you turn on Stayin' Alive and start CPR. lmao
- No pee doesn't work, that's an old myth. Leave the sting in water that's 107-113°F (Don't know non-freedom units) The heat should neutralize/denature the jellyfish venom.
- We know you didn't fall. They might as well have a box of things that they've pulled out of peoples asses. *If there's no flared based, don't put it in your ass!*
- Ketamine has been used in trauma in place of morphine since it doesn't reduce blood pressure like traditional opioids. It has also been used in therapy for its psychedelic properties.
- Passing out from seeing blood is more common than you think. It's called a haemophobic response. You know Fight or Flight Response? This is Secret Option C: Freeze or Faint. Their heart rate just plummets so fast out of fear they lose consciousness. 😱

Hope that clears a few things up, much love from Texas! 🤠🤗❤

1:38 in one of his Where Are They Now episodes, he clarified that if someone doesn't restart on their own after adenosine, the next step is a sedative and a defibrillator.

So a little jellyfish fun fact: The jellyfish's tentacles are actually filled with many stinging cells (cnidocytes) that release the stinging toxin upon agitation/contact with your skin , so a jellyfish sting actually consists of thousands of tiny stings all together. This is also important to understand why the "pee myth" (lol) originated: each cnidocyte has a harpoon-like stinger and capsule with the toxin, so when you come into contact with a jellyfish, the harpoon attaches to your skin and will keep injecting all the toxin it has stored until it runs out of it. However, since the toxin is acidic in nature, if you pour something acidic on where the tentacles are attached to you (like vinegar, but also please seek medical treatment lol), the cnidocytes will detect the acid and "understand" that the harpoons have injected all the toxin and will stop, which helps reduce pain and other symptoms. This is kinda where the whole pee thing came from, since pee is more widely available than vinegar and has urine, which is acidic, but it doesn't work because our urine is dilluted in water so it's not strong enough (+ it's not very clean). On the other hand, warm water helps because most jellyfish's toxins have protein in them and warm water denaturalizes them, which essentially "neutralizes" it. It all depends on the species of jellyfish tho.

Amazing video, just discovered your channel and have been looking around a bit! Sincerely, an autistic biology nerd lol

Thank God you never got stung by a jellyfish. You avoided future awkward conversations and tons of money on therapy.

8:52 This is why the Boy Scouts have the Totin’ Chip in the US. We have to be trained in knife, hatchet and axe safety to earn the Chip, which comes with the privilege of carrying our own knives. Also sheath blades are banned.

5:39 There was an update on him in the Where Are They Now series. He did, in fact, take shrooms.

Here in the US, it took ages for boy scouts and girl scouts to integrate. You're seriously missing out on Girl Scout cookies, but ive found that Keebler Coconut Dreams are basically the same as Samoas(the best kind of gs cookie) if you have those in the Netherlands. And honestly, relatable. I still have a scar on my thumb from when I was a cub scout and wound up seeing my tendon that day

I was on ketamine for a year for my depression. Not fun. I’m sure it works for some folks, but turns out my kidneys are so good at filtering out that they needed to keep upping the dose until I was like “STOP, this ain’t working.”

I would say the Adenosine is more like a force reset personally.

Am I the only one reading the argument that one member of chat is having with his future self. I'm dying.

12:40 Ambulances (paramedics) are generally part of the fire rescue team

The passing out at blood is apparently genetic. I don't get the mechanism, but it triggers some kind of panic response, I think. My Dad is weird about it. He can handle other people's blood, but if he sees his own, he faints. My brother does this too. I joke with one of my doctors that it's good that I'm not like that. I was on dialysis for about two and ahalf years. I have passed out, but not due to this. Usually low pressure from a bad treatment or reaction to treatment.

It is funny to ask them to come to appointments with me.

To be fair to the shower guy, it could have only gone a little bit before he fell, and the bottle went even further. Ive seen it plenty of times with other things.

i used to be a care giver from 2008 to 2012 and patients would come in with stuff up their butts once a month, sometimes twice.  more often then not parents would be in their kids who injured their front downstairs parts by crashing into something trying to preform tricks at skate parks, and i saw a metric ton of those.

He has a series of what happens to some of these people afterwards. You should watch as many of these as possible before those, to avoid spoilers, but you should check those out eventually
