I love this lens, and it is one of my most used for landscape. That was a really lovely photo of the moon over Saint Michael’s Mount. Great video.

thak you very much the best review !!!!

Always A Pleasure Watching You Tony. Nicely Done,

Ive only been shooting for 2 years and fell in love with the 100-400 as soon as I got it. Looking at your photos and how you shoot makes me realize that I have much to learn about that lens and what you can produce with it. Thank you for the time and effort you put in your videos as I just found them. I appreciate them.

Thanks Tony!  This video was a fantastic meditation on a lens

Thanks for sharing  Tony, Good video mate.

Thank you for the review. I just subscribed. I love how your video is both joyful and informative. Cheers from Egypt 🇪🇬

Excellent, Tony

Excellent video Tony great inspiration to use a longer lens, absolutely stunning image over st Michael’s mount 😊

TONY!!!!!!!!

Lovely. I just bought a 500mm Sigma f/5.6 for birding. I own the 100-400 gmaster (mk 1... lets call it that) but found cropping in became too common on my A7R V. I love the Sigma, love it. I love the Sony. I've debated selling the 100-400 and going for the 70-200 GMii, but this lens was the first lens that brought so much joy into every shot. I don't think I can sell it, it's just so practical.

I also love that lens!  I’ve used it for sports, but also for street photography.  It’s heavy to hand-hold, and it’s definitely not stealthy, but the perspective compression is amazing.  When shooting in a busy urban environment with lots of people and vehicles, the compression add a sense of frenetic intensity.
Sony Rumours did report that Sony might release an update soon.  I’m not sure I believe the reporting that there may be two versions - one with the same variable aperture and another with a fixed f/4.0 aperture.  I would consider upgrading if there was a material decrease in size and weight with the same or better optics/focusing.

Thank you for the beautiful photographs and sharing your experience with the telephoto lens. I have been using my Sony A7RV with the Tamron 50-400mm and Sony 70-200 GM II and 2x extender together with the Tamron 20-40mm for landscapes, birds, wildlife, insects and macros. The Tamron 50-400 gives a little extra advantage at the wide end and has real close up abilities as well. The Sony 70-200 of course is better in low light conditions. By the way I really enjoy your background music and great explanations.

I got my  Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II USM Lens for wildlife and only used it a few times for landscape. Need to do it now having seen this quite helpful video. Thank you, Tony. Be careful out there.

hi love the video great job question what tripod are you using

Great video, and also fantastic channel!
Only one thing by my end - the music you choose is a bit too harsh for the nice landscape shots. Perhaps you can try with more calm and even sounding background, that would amplify even more the calmness coming out of you. It is just my opinion, no need to take it into account 😊
All the best, mate
