From the beginning of the video, I had a hard time trying to digest Nick's disposition on where clothes matter to him when expressing what he personally looks for and what he personally wears UNTIL, we started diving into his knowledge base and how he views his enthusiasm through a business mindset. His knowledge is vast from fabrics to tailoring to books and history, and then it's juxtaposed on the non-seriousness of it all, which, in my humble opinion is also true. Menswear isn't saving lives (maybe mentally lol), nor is it revolutionizing the way we live (although in some aspects it can), but he said something profoundly powerful that I cannot scrap from my mind in that for men, it's a "Safe space to express ourselves" which there are few ways that exists. Great interview and video in that enthusiasm doesn't need hard fast rules but perhaps more curiosity, freedom of thought, and self-application.

ALSO, Percia did a fantastic job storytelling through the curiosity of her questions. Allowing some answers to breathe and asking great ones when sign-posting to move the railcar along.

I love that Nick has sold a lot of his grails stating, “It’s just a jacket…it didn’t fill the whole in my heart.” As someone who loves menswear, I think this is sage wisdom because perhaps we have fallen in love with great marketing and brand storytelling and think that items are going to bring some transcendent happiness. But ultimately, it’s the enjoyment of relationships, participation in experiences, and archiving of great memories that we’re ultimately after. The less tied we are to these items we are, perhaps the more we can actually enjoy them. Love the interview!

Wow,.This guys take on menswear is a total breath of fresh air.
He's the first guy i've evr seen actually take the whole "quality " subject and contrast it with the reality of a garments actual use and treatment by its owner.
The way you care for a particular garment is likely the  greatest determining factor in how it will last even if, for example,  the fabric fibers of the rare golden horned unicorn were not used to make that particular shirt,.Lol.

Lol nick tried to sell me a jacket at Alfarago's. I took one look and said I didn't think it was my size. He insisted it was--he had sized me up with just a 2 second glance--and he was right. I ended up buying the jacket.

This young man reminds me of Joaquin Phoenix from about a dozen years ago.  He's seen it all and done it all and now feels  a bit jaded.

Maybe I am misinterpreting here, but he seems to be saying that the act of choosing good clothing (fit, comfort, style) is a part of the proverbial  journey.   It is not a destination in and of itself.   Too many online pundits don't understand that you are picking out some great clothes so that you can impress the hiring manager or the women at happy hour.   You're not creating a fantastic wardrobe so that you can stay home and admire yourself in the mirror for most of the day.

Wildly off-topic, but have you ever thought about how the whole “safari woman” look became a thing? Like, the pith helmet, tan shorts, utility belt, all of that. I only ask because I randomly fell down a Gil Elvgren fashion rabbit hole and ended up watching King Solomon’s Mines (1950) lol. I feel like you’re genuinely the only channel that could make some weirdly niche topic like that actually interesting. Have a great rest of your weekend!

I enjoyed his vibe. I think personal fashion should be chill and laid back. I agree about not getting caught up on materials, I think people are too worried about that these days. Also the section about hand feel cracked me up.

I like hearing how Nick is saying it doesn’t have to be serious yet as his mom was encouraging him clothes can make a difference!
So many guys just put on the same clothes they did in high school in their 30s/40s/+  …it’s usually not even that  great of street wear just interest based logo tshirts, jeans, ect that I would call boring, the same as too many other guys, with no effort.

Having a few options to mix it up doesn’t have to be expensive or elaborate. Dare I say age appropriate without weird ageism bs. I feel too it’s clutch. As yes, it’s a glimpse of you as an individual.   I also look at it from attraction standpoint, I wouldn’t want a relationship with someone who wore clothes without thought or effort because I put in effort. And hope by doing so, I attract like minded more than compliments that I look nice in what I’m wearing.
