My grandfather, pro photographer from the 1960s to late 90s, told me that you have to first do the requisite adjustments of course, then try get your composition with your subject smack in the middle; then and only then make the composition a bit more human by pointing the camera a litte or as much as needed to the side that feels just right and take the shot.
He said that it has to feel like you are looking at the view but with one hand resting on your wife that is standing in front a little to the side.

Thanks! Some really nice pictures in here. Allthough that washed out grey in some pictures is a bit too much for my taste, i miss blacks. Pro tip for midday dreamyness would be a Glimmerglass. It softens your highlights without touching mids and blacks. Works like a charm.

I use a md 50mm f1.4 lens that i found in my granndfather's attic. heavily molded with fungus.
make it a bit shallow and out of bit of a focus. it's dreamy while in the highnoon lol

Thanks so much for sharing all of this! Do you have any comments regarding exposure in general? In my case, I realized that every time that I get to a photo edit that I like, the histogram is almost empty in the last 1/3 or 1/4, and I'm not sure why. It's like highlights look distracting or artificial to me, or something like that. Also, regarding using slow shutter speed, I've experienced some odd results when panning with image stabilizer activated (i.e. erratic light trails), so it's always a good idea to do some testing and see what works better for you.

@ 5:35 it looks like you set the camera up to take a shot of the view, then just before you pressed the shutter button somebody walked in front of your camera.
