Very interesting the projection exercice and the analogy with bowed instruments. As a cello amateur player (and a noob singer) it's helping me a lot. And it looks like this is also helping me to develop my natural vibrato singing this way..
Brilliant advice, many thanks. I'm a Brit singing bass in our local village choir in Southern Germany and as soon as you mentioned the cricket bat analogy you got me hooked! I have had no musical background at all but I cottoned on some time ago that breathing is important for my singing. Now I shall try and cover-drive the notes I sing through the congregation! ;-)
As a lifelong bass singer of the non-operatic variety, I’ve always wanted to learn how to make that SOUND… the big, round, loud operatic basso profundo sound. I have the range and the voice, but have always sung into mics in the Gospel Quartet bass singer style. Different sound altogether.
Thank you Sir. Please Keep the content rolling. I’m new to formal voice lessons… trying to contribute to nice sounds in the church choir 🎶🫨🫣🥴🙄… trying . Thank you for the analogies 👍🏽. Skott
You have a lovely teaching style. I have taken many years of vocal training from very expensive teachers. I use your method already but enjoyed your presentation of it. I'm the current lowest female singer in Guinness records.
I love it. I have a Bass voice. But also play the violín. The example with the bow. Is most obvious in the cello, Cello is my main instrument, And in it you have to "Bite the string" So it starts to move otherwise the response would be too slow before it generates a clean sound. So the term for future reference is to "Bite the string"
This is amazing, changed my breathing and I'm noticing I can breathe better in regular life. I'm also feeling much smoother and confident through my range, and can hit lower notes more comfortably! Thanks so much!
I think I have always tried to sing to high, always told I sounded terrible. Just tried to sing along to "Hoist the Colors" and surprised myself. I have always had a very deep voice. Need to look into this more
Thank you so much for this wonderful video. I have learnt a huge amount from you in just 22 minutes. So kind of you to share such wonderful information and it's explained so clearly. I'm moving straight onto lesson 2!
