One of the four foundresses of the community, Sr. Joseph Andrew, takes a seat in the studio to speak with Sr. Miriam about her life story, her role in founding the Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist, and what she loves about being a Sister—no boring days! This wide-ranging conversation dives into topics for people who are just beginning their spiritual journey and devout Catholics who are looking to further develop a relationship with God.

I would never have guessed that Sister Joseph Andrew, O.P. was old enough to have entered religious life back in 1970.

I have been listening to these podcasts, from oldest to newest, and have enjoyed all the sisters' interviews. But, as a native North Carolinian, I love hearing that southern accent residing in Ann Arbor. As soon as Sr. Joseph started speaking, I knew she was a good ol' southern girl!

May God bless our dear Sisters and Nuns. I ask in the name of Jesus. I am so thankful for the Dominican Sisters and all of the other sisters in my life. They taught me my lessons, and music, and how to sew!!

I absolutely love your podcast! I watch from Trinidad and Tobago, the southern most island in the Caribbean. I’ve only just began a serious relationship with the lord. Maybe a year or so now. But I am ashamed to say it was born out of losing my career. I worked for 17 years to get to that point, then everything just fell through regardless of trying everything I could. I just wasn’t good enough to live up to the expectations of what I would achieve once I got to that level in my career. I am however grateful that God guided me towards prayer and that I took this guidance rather than going down another path.

I struggle every day with my prayer life and I don’t know if it’s wrong to feel like I’m praying wrong if there is such a thing. I am so introverted that it is difficult for me to sit and talk to anyone in religious life about it. This podcast keeps me grounded and helps to strengthen my faith so that I continue praying, although I can be so oblivious to simple signs that I usually pray for “a slap in the face sign” from the lord regarding the path he wants me to take.

Please pray for me so I will be steadfast in my walk of discovering the lord and that I will always turn to him and not down a negative path . I was baptized but we never went to church so I’ve never made first communion and I have a feeling of regret now.
