I'm gonna so honest with you, I had NO IDEAD Smiler was a twist villain. I just thought she was a villain period, until I came across this video. They screwed up so hard she was so obvious.
Turbo was probably the best twist villain. Sure, we can come up with the fact that King Candy is the main villain, but with the twist being Turbo, since Turbo has a whole story, which makes him the best twist villain.
I heard a theory that I actually like. One of my friends headcanons Chelsea is actually real, but Nerissa is a split personality. Chelsea was really there the whole time, but her evil schizophrenic form learned her well enough to pose as her. I like this theory because I'm in denial over the fact that it not being true makes it worse... It would've been nice to have shattered that stereotype for once.
The smiler: the second we meet her she already shows villain vibes Professor marmalade: does good just to hide the fact that he’s bad and still would’ve gotten away after the twist if his greed hadn’t framed himself for being the crimson paw
The Prowler’s twist was done fantastically. I love how he can’t bring himself to harm Miles and ends up dying because of it. Unfortunately, I and everyone else who knows the character from the comics knew it was coming. 😭
Chelsea was such an obvious twist villain, everyone thought she’d be a twist hero. Because they couldn’t imagine the advertising would be that terrible unless it was some kind of mislead. But no, just terrible advertising.
I mean that would’ve been pretty genius on Dreamworks part they’ve done ugly=good, beautiful=evil so many times at this point this would’ve been like them saying “never let anyone tell you who you need to be, not even us”.
Dawn Bellwether, when I first watched the movie, completely caught me off guard. (mainly because she felt like a side character) But then again, I thought Hans from Frozen was actually in love with Anna, so his evil was shocking to me. (I was 8.). And I thought Smiler WAS the villan. She was a "twist"?
8:02 not only that but she looks like ariel and since dreamworks and Disney are at odds at each other that's not red flag THAT'S MOTHERBOARD FRAGGING FIREWORK SHOW!
The Prowler had always been my favorite villain in the Spiderverse. The characterization was well written,he may be a villain in the mask but underneath it.He's just a man who wants his nephew to look up to him...
The problem with belle weather is that they made her more of a crime show villain than an animated villain for kids.
With crime shows the killer is usually a character you’ve already seen but not much, a character Thats on screen for most of the episode or just a brand new character to try to throw people off from guessing
Belle weather fits that the first one. But it’s an animated villain for kids she needs to be. There is a difference.
If she was shown more, maybe even mistreated by more animals besides the mayor it could’ve made her twist better.
The problem with resentment villains is that if you don’t give them any resentment at all in their scenes (but it’s their motive) or give them too much, it makes it’s more obvious who is behind everything.
A good twist villain has subtle clues youre not meant to pick up on until you rewatch the movie, Ernesto De La Cruz Is a perfect example. He has slight behaviours that foreshadow his villlainy.
Resentment is a hard twist villain motive to pull off.
Also king candy had some hints like “You aren’t going to go turbo are you?” Also Chelsea looks like Ariel feel like they are doing something towards disney
One twist villain I loved was TFOne Sentinel Prime. The twist isn’t that he’s evil, he’s so obviously a wolf in sheep’s clothing; it’s just how evil he is.
Ruby Gillman would've been more interesting if they kept the idea of Chelsea and Nerissa as separate characters, but no. Really they shouldn't have added that twist at all since we already knew.
Cough cough marketing cough
